Anne was born on April 28, 1925 in Quincy, IL to John Hessing and Lydia Behrensmeyer Hessing.
She was married on June 29, 1944 to Melvin "Bud" Ward. He preceded her in death on October 19, 2010.
Also preceding Anne in death were her parents, eight siblings: Frank, Rose, Charles, Ralph, John, Joe, Margaret and George; three sons-in-law: Alan Purvis, Kyle Rueb and Bob Glasgow and one daughter-in-law, Sue Ward.
Survivors include: eight children: Tamara Fischer (Larry), Jill Purvis, Deborah Rueb (Gene Smith), Mel Ward (Kris Wentzel), Wendy McCartney (Rick), Kathy Edwards (Carl), Marty Ward (Diane) and Heidi Mark (Sweet Boy, Merle); 15 grandchildren: Tim Fischer, Troy Fischer, Trent Fischer, Ian Purvis, Brianna Purvis, Jana Youssef, Brock Billings, Eric Rueb, Shea Kiessling, Meegan Cramer, Tonya Utterback-Martin, Brooke Walker, Lucas Utterback, Kristen Dakhil and Tyler Ward; numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

After her children were raised, Anne worked in Central Supply at St. Mary' s Hospital in Quincy, IL, from which she retired after 20 years of service.
Family was always central to Anne's life. She enjoyed attending the sports and activities of her children and grandchildren over the years. St. Louis Cardinals baseball, bowling and playing card games, especially "Cry Canasta" were a few of Anne's favorites. She was also involved with the Country Couples group, a lifetime member of the PTA and a member of the Red Hats. Traveling and shopping also brought Anne joy. She was a wonderful cook and her homemade caramels were the best around. Anne will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Pallbearers will be Tim Fischer, Troy Fischer, Trent Fischer, Ian Purvis, Brock Billings, Eric Rueb, Lucas Utterback and Tyler Ward.
