Anne Wernick Obituary

Published by Legacy on Apr. 2, 2024.
Lois Anne Wernick passed away peacefully on March 31, 2024. Anne, as her family and friends
knew her, was born on September 13, 1941, in Zanesville, Ohio, to Lois and Fredric
Chappelear. Fredric fought and died in World War II. Lois later married Don Thacker, who raised
Anne as his own. Anne will be remembered for her kindness, compassion, and generosity. Her
home was always the gathering place for family and friends and was always open for a meal or
a place to stay. She had a gift of making everyone feel welcome. Working full-time with four
children, Anne always made family dinners a priority. In addition to her full-time job raising a
family, Anne also touched countless lives as an oncology nurse. Working at St. Joseph's Hospital
in Georgia, and later the Cleveland Clinic in Florida, her nursing career spanned 45 years.
Anne is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Alex Wernick,`and her four children,
Michelle Shadburn (Roger), Lisa Nierenberg (Mark), Jason Wernick, and Jeffrey Wernick
(Katrina), and her grandchildren, Tripp Shadburn, Mia and Kate Nierenberg, Lexi Wernick, and
Rylan, Caden and Collin Wernick. Memorial donations in honor of Anne's life may be made to:
The American Cancer Society
