Annette Bass Bales, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2025, at the age of 74. Born in New Haven, Connecticut, Annette lived in Washington State and Florida before settling in Knoxville, Tennessee, where she raised her family. Her life was filled with laughter, warmth, and treasured memories. She had a passion for good food, a love for travel, and, above all, a relationship with her God, Jehovah, who she served zealously and with joy.
Known for her infectious laugh and vibrant, dancing spirit, Nettie had a gift for making everyone feel welcome and loved. Whether you needed a hand to hold, a heart to confide in, or simply someone to sit beside you in silence - she was there.
Annette is preceded in death by her beloved son, Justin Bass; her first husband, Eugene Bass, the father of her sons; her parents, Joseph and Esther DeNobrega; and her brothers, Joseph and John DeNobrega.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 17 years, Carlton Bales; her son, Nathan Bass, and his wife, Jessi; her siblings, Patricia Sears, Rita Sublett, Anthony DeNobrega, and Peter DeNobrega; and her cherished grandchildren, Parks and Aspen Bass (with their mother, Season Wallace), and Lola and Quinn Bass.
Annette will be remembered for her unconditional love, unwavering friendship, and a life lived with courage and joy. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses,
3958 East Emory Road, Knoxville, Tennessee 37938,
on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at 4:00 p.m.
