Flanner Buchanan - CarmelAnnette R Brandenburg, 84, of Garrett, Indiana died peacefully Saturday December 6th, 2025. Anne was born November 6th, 1941 in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Anne married Samuel Roger Brandenburg in 1958 and had 3 children, 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Her definition of family never ended with bloodline. The endless list of surrogate family members demonstrated her compassion and love for others.
Anne was a graduate of South Side HS. She later pursued an education as a tax professional and practiced for over 45 years. She owned her own tax business in Auburn, Indiana for many of those years.
Anne was a member of Christian Union Brethren in Christ Church in Garrett where she served as worship leader and bookkeeper. She also spent many years working with youth and women’s ministry in previous churches.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Denise and Gregg Gernhardt of Carmel Indiana; daughter-in-law Lea (Dennis) Brandenburg of Bedford, Indiana; sisters, Sandy (Randy) Adams of Elkhart, Indiana and Pat (Gary) Ansberry of Fort Wayne, Indiana; step sister Nancy Divelbiss; brother-in-law Ralph (Norma) Brandenburg; grandchildren, Kathleen Donnellan, Joseph Brandenburg, Ian Gernhardt, Benjamin Gernhardt, Zachary Brandenburg and Jacob Brandenburg; nine great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Samuel R Brandenburg; their sons, Dennis Brandenburg and Dean Brandenburg; her parents Ray and Edith Walton Stauffer; step-father Earl Stauffer; half-sisters Nancy Slater and Janine Overson.
To honor her love of Easter a memorial service will be held during Lent. Visitation begins at 1 pm with a service at 2 pm Saturday, March 14, 2026 at Christian Union Brethren in Christ Church 4395 N CR 7 Garrett. Light snacks and refreshments will follow the service. Memorial donations may be made to Christian Union Brethren in Christ Church.
