Annette Busch Obituary

Teacher, matriarch, great-grandmother Annette Busch passed away peacefully at home on October 10, 2022, having lived a life full of love, teaching, and family. She was born on May 17, 1925, in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of Celia and Nathan Weinhaus. Annette grew up as the third sister of four, and she's predeceased by her elder two siblings, Rose Abrahams and Helen Sarasohn. Annette graduated from New Utrecht High School in 1941. That Fall, she matriculated at Brooklyn College, but had to drop out due to family financial stress. Annette then went to work in New York's garment district - but never gave up her dream of education. After giving birth to three children, Annette returned to Brooklyn College, graduating in 1967 with a Bachelor of Arts and receiving a Master's in Teaching from Hofstra University in 1971. She later taught Spanish, French and English for nearly 20 years in Syosset, NY before retiring. Annette loved to perform in community theater and wrote poetry for her children and grandchildren. She was a dedicated teacher who loved her students. Annette married the love of her life, Stanley Busch, in 1981 - rekindling a romance after they had briefly dated some 30 years earlier. They spent 25 years in Florida and after Stanley passed, Annette relocated to NJ in 2017. Annette is survived by her sister, Evelyn Roberts, her daughter Joan Rosenberg (Bob) of Durango, CO, her son Ted Gilbert (Bonnie), of Boynton Beach, FL, and her daughter, Janice Schindler (Barry), of Mountain Lakes, NJ. She leaves behind seven grandchildren, Oren and David Rosenberg, Olivia Furer, Barry Gilbert, Danielle Segal, and Rachel and Max Schindler, along with two great-grandchildren, Sadie Furer and Dahlia Gilbert. Funeral services were held in person on Thursday, October 13, at Eternal Light Memorial Gardens in Boca Raton, FL. Donations in Annette's memory may be sent to UrbanTeachers.org or a charity of your choice.
