Annette Naomi "Greenfield" Steinborn

Annette Steinborn passed away in Rockville, MD on September 26, 2025. She was born in Chicago and grew up there as well as briefly in Culver City, CA. Annette also lived in Alpena, MI and spent most of her adult life in East Lansing, MI.

Annette is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Stanley Steinborn, whom she was married to for 50 years. The most important thing to Annette and Stan was to raise good children who would go into the world and do good things.

Annette is survived by her four children, Linda Bender (Karlan), Laurie Berman (Jeff), Steve Steinborn (Alyse) and Ailene Steinborn (Paul Love); as well as four grandchildren Jacob Bender (Melissa), Joshua Bender, Zachary Steinborn (Amy) and Kayla Haskin (Dan) and four great grandchildren Dan Bender, Addison Steinborn, Micah Steinborn, and Noah Haskin.

In addition to raising their four children, Annette demonstrated the value of education by returning to college to obtain her BS at Michigan State University and then her MS as well. It took her many years of taking one evening class at a time. Upon graduation, Annette worked for Michigan State University as an academic advisor. She was rightfully proud of her professional accomplishments – including developing a program to aid undergraduate students in selecting a major.

Annette lived a long and very full life. She was a strong woman who passed on that trait to her four children. She was so excited to become a grandmother and relished that role – spending as much time as she could with her grandchildren and then later with her great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at Evergreen Cemetery, 2600 E. Mt. Hope Ave, Lansing, MI 48910. Those who wish may make memorial contributions, in loving memory of Annette, to SmileTrain @ www.smiletrain.org
