Annette Talbot Obituary

Published by Cartmell-Davis Funeral & Cremation Service, Inc. - Care Center on Jun. 20, 2017.
Annette Frances Talbot died peacefully on June 20, 2017 after a brief Illness. She was born in Plymouth and spent her childhood on the Hornblower estate in Chiltonville where her father worked. She was deeply influenced by the rural atmosphere and often told stories about the gardens, the cows, and the people. She attended the Plymouth Schools and went on to Boston University from which she graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Summa Cum Laude. Academia wants the best for itself, and the University held on to Annette, who became Assistant to the Dean of Women. She was on a track to higher positions, but she left to serve a greater purpose and became a full-time mother. At the time it wasn't a fashionable calling, and one of the town's business women told her it was a shame to let one's mind rot. Annette's mind never rotted. She raised her family with intelligence, dedication, and abundant love. When her children were grown, she became financial manager of Stoddard & Talbot Insurance Agency, the family business. Always a famous cook, she wrote a popular recipe column for the Old Colony Memorial. She was an active member of the Plymouth Garden Club. She was always interested in the history of Plymouth. Her first job was with Plimoth Plantation. She was active in the Plymouth Historical Alliance, and served as President of the Plymouth Antiquarian Society. She was an avid reader from childhood, and at one point she was simultaneously in three book clubs. She was an intrepid traveler and loved to remember climbing mountains in Ireland, walking by starlight in the Sahara Desert and watching glaciers calve in Alaska. She is survived by her husband, Richmond Talbot, two daughters, Rebecca Driscoll and Melinda Nasardinov, three brothers, Gerald Sirrico, A. Michael Sirrico and Lee Sirrico, a sister, Lisa Sirrico, and four grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to The American Cancer Society or the Plymouth Antiquarian Society.

Richmond, Becky and Melinda, I rarely think of my parents without including you Richmond, and Annette among my memories. You all shared such laughter and fun! You also taught me much. Thank you. Annette was such a voice of compassion and calm guidance and I will greatly miss our conversations of Plymouth politics that could last forever. I'm sorry for you but also for Plymouth who lost righteous citizen and many, a great friend with a kind ear. Blessed Be.

The Talbot family has been part of my life since I was a small child. We were friends, neighbors, fellow gardeners. I remember Grandpa and Grandma, Mr & Mrs T (as we called them), and Delia. Richmond, I am so sorry you have lost your life companion, who was a warm and friendly presence to all of us. We'll miss her too.

Dear Richmond and family,
Please accept my condolences for your terrible loss. A;though I have not seen Annette for many years, her friends in town kept me updated. She was so special in every way, with a wonderful sense of humor on top of her marvelous intelligence. I am grateful to have known her as a child, a teenager, and a young woman.
