Annie Bivins will be remembered by some as loving, witty, selfless, and generous. Affectionately known by many names -"Susie" "Bip," "Granny," and "Annie Yam" touched countless lives with her kindness and humor. Born on October 22, 1958, in Monroeville, Alabama, she was the beloved daughter of Dorothy Mae Hill Bivins and Claude Bivins, Jr. Susie transitioned on September 11, 2025, in New Orleans, LA.
Her early education took place in Pascagoula, Mississippi, where she attended Fair Elementary School and Pascagoula Negro Carver High School (Class of 1976).
Susie's mother reared her in the church, and she joined Antioch Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Lenard D. Chapman at a very young age.
She was raised in Pascagoula, MS, moved to Los Angeles, CA, and subsequently returned home. Susie dedicated herself to sharing her culinary talents, finding joy in both cooking and savoring meals, as well as lending a hand with house cleaning alongside her friends.
Susie was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy Mae Hill Bivins and Claude Bivins, Jr.; two brothers, Larry Darnell "Big Nuke" Bivins and Claude Bivins; maternal grandparent, Edna Williams Hill and Thomas Hill, Sr.; paternal grandparents, Curlain Bivins and Claude Bivins, Sr.
Left to celebrate her life and hold onto Susie dear memories are: three loving and devoted children, Robert Bivins, Latirra Bivins, and Undrea Bivins all of Pascagoula, MS; six grandchildren, NyKeira Bivins, Demetria Mason, Kimora Washington, Kimothy Washington, Jr., Demetrius Bivins and DeMarion Bivins all of Pascagoula, MS; a loving great grandchild, Kaitlynn Broadnax of Pascagoula, MS; a loving and supportive sister that serves as the matriarch of the Bivins's family, Dorothy "Coot" Williams of Pascagoula, MS; two additional loving and devoted sisters, Sharon "Sherry" Gaubult of Biloxi, MS; Gwendolyn "Tammy" Bivins Cheatham of Ocean Springs, MS; one loving brother, Ronald "Spider" Bivins of Pascagoula, MS; thirteen loving nephews, Calvin Williams of Surprise, AZ; Prentiss Williams of Gautier, MS; Daryl Young, Nakia Young, Alvin Jones all of Pascagoula, MS; Akeem Bivins, Claude Sims, Kenya Watson, all of Atlanta, GA; Eric Barnett of Biloxi, MS; Chuck (Susan) of Gautier, MS; Telly Tait of Orlando, FL; Eric Tait of
