Annie Bond Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Walker Funeral Service and Chapel, Inc. - Champaign on Jan. 28, 2026.
Annie Clara Morgan-Bond, age 89, of Decatur, Illinois, peacefully transitioned from this life on January 23, 2026, at The Loft of Rock Springs.

Annie was born on February 11, 1936, in Decatur, Illinois, to the late Richard Wagnor Morgan and Amanda Bell (Johnson) Morgan. She was a proud graduate of Stephen Decatur High School and continued her education by earning college credits, valuing learning and personal growth throughout her life.

Annie dedicated many years of her life to hard work and service. She was employed with Firestone for over 20 years, and later retired from Decatur Memorial Hospital, where she served faithfully as a receptionist for more than 20 years. Known for her strong work ethic, Annie instilled the importance of responsibility, perseverance, and integrity into her children-values that remain part of her lasting legacy.

A woman of many interests, Annie was an avid bowler and an active member of a bowling league. She also enjoyed watching sports and spending quality time with her family. Above all, she was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother, known for her warm heart, quick wit, and unforgettable sense of humor that brought laughter to those around her. Annie found great joy in giving back and was passionate about supporting St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, extending her compassion to children and families in need.

Annie was a faithful member of New Salem Baptist Church, where her spiritual life was nurtured and her faith remained steadfast.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children: Teressa Bond Moore, Marsha Bond, Amy Bond, and Kevin Morgan Bond; her siblings: Kenneth (Jennifer) Morgan, Kathy Marshall, and Linda Thomas; sister-in-law, Judy Morgan; her grandchildren: Kennedy (Laterese) R. Moore of Austin, TX, Tyler A. Moore of Houston, TX, Morgan E. Bond of Lincoln, IL, Mauna Spencer, Kaitlyn Bond, Zachary Bond, Mikayla Bond, and Nadiyah Bond; and her great-grandchildren: Tyler A.R. Moore and Aniyah R. Moore of Cypress, TX, and Morgan E. Bond Jr. of Decatur, IL, as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard Wagnor Morgan and Amanda Bell (Johnson) Morgan, and her brothers, Welton Morgan and Richard Wagnor Morgan, as well as a host of other family and friends who met her at the gates of heaven.
