Annie Lee Carter Bray, 81, of Reidsville, went home to be with the Lord on December 9, 2025.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at Mt. Carmel Church with Pastor Tim James officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5–7 PM on Friday, December 12, 2025, at Wilkerson Funeral Home.
Ann was born in Rockingham County to the late Joe Ford Carter and Virginia Carver Carter.
Ann was the love of Tommy’s life, and truly, everyone who met her loved her. You can almost see her now with her hands on her hips, giving that little dose of sass. She loved her Mt. Carmel church family and was always the one jumping in to help, especially as part of the Etta Carter Circle. She spent over 40 years working for Bank of America. Ann was famously tight with her money—if you needed a little extra, you’d better go to Papa. To everyone, she was simply Memaw, and she cherished every single one of her grandkids and great-grandkids. She loved playing cards, trips to Atlantic Beach, and she was a proud Tar Heels fan through and through.
In addition to her parents, Ann was preceded in death by her daughter, Cynthia Lee Bray Fagg, and her siblings, Patricia Lane Collins and Joel Royce Carter.
Ann is survived by her husband of 64 years, Thomas Wayne Bray, Sr.; her son, Wayne Bray and wife Carla; her grandchildren, Clint Fagg and wife Leigh, Maryann Hoyt and husband Sean, Logan Fagg, and Thomas Bray and wife Hayley; and her six great-grandchildren, Braylee Ann Hoyt, Finley Jameson Hoyt, Levi Wyatt Bray, Jensen Joseph Benfield, Nicolas Fagg, and Rosalee Fagg.
The family would like to thank the staff at Moses Cone, especially the ER and trauma teams, as well as Dr. Lovick and her staff. They also want to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the ICU nurses—Nicole, Thomas, and McKenzie—who were wonderful and took such good care of Ann.
