A celebration of life service for Annie M. Corbitt, 79, of West Columbia will be held 2:00 PM Friday June 7, 2024, at Mt. Holly United Methodist Church, 1996 Mt. Holly Road, Rock Hill, SC 29730. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
Mrs. Corbitt passed away Friday May 31, 2024 at Lexington Medical Center. She was born in Mobile, Alabama and was the daughter of the late Charlie and Dora Mae (Bates) McNutt. She worked for many years at Capitol City Manufacturing and later at Kroger as a produce manager. In her spare time she enjoyed sewing, crafting and upholstering. Mrs. Corbitt was a fiercely independent and hard working lady. A niece described her this way: " She was the most beautiful, headstrong, tell it like it is woman I have ever known. She was always so proud of her family and especially her son." She never missed an opportunity to brag about her Miss America Girls, Joye and Abby, and would always do whatever she could to help someone in need.
Mrs. Corbitt is preceded in death by her former husband Wayne Smith, Sr., and her late Roy Alton Corbitt. Mrs. Corbitt is survived by her son, Wayne (Rhonda) Smith; granddaughters, Joye Elizabeth Smith and Abigail Grace Smith; siblings, Billie (Benny Frank) Sealy, Sonny Pace, Paulette German, Marshall McNutt, Donald McNutt and Johnny (Charlotte) McNutt; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Mary (Allen) Ledbetter, Bonnie Long and Willie Ann Allen. The family extends a special thank you to Mrs. Corbitt's brothers Marshal and Donald for their faithful care during her life.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages people to make a donation to a charity of their choice.
