Nancy Maulding died March 12 2026 at home with family at her side. Born July 14 1937 in Otwell, Indiana, she was the first child of Dr. Ralph and Roxie Coleman. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Michael Maulding and Kim Nielsen, sister Sara Fryer, nieces and nephews Kim and Paul Ellefson, Mark and Michelle Fryer, David and Gina Fryer, Katie and Andy Helmer, Emily and Mark Dodart, Matt and Jen Coleman, and long-time care giver Sharline Davis. In addition, she was predeceased by her husband of almost 40 years Don Maulding, brother Dr. R. Edward Coleman, sister-in-law Pat Breault, and her companion of 10 years Ray Bateman.

Nancy graduated from Bosse High School in Evansville, IN in 1955, and received her bachelor degree from University of Evansville in 1958. While at U of E she met and fell in love with Don Maulding. They were married May 1958 and moved to Bloomington to enroll in graduate school at Indiana University. She received her master’s degree in mathematics in 1960.

Nancy’s professional career was in teaching math. First as a lecturer at Ohio State, then at the University of Connecticut, and finally at Raritan Valley Community College in Branchburg New Jersey from 1970 until retirement in 1998.

Nancy had a musical side, playing bass in high school and college in the Evansville Philharmonic. She was also a big sports fan. She enjoyed attending sporting events, especially if her husband or son were playing. She enjoyed participating as well and was both city ping pong and diving champion growing up and played tennis later in life. She was a duplicated bridge player and attained the title of Ruby Life Master.

Nancy traveled the world visiting 6 continents and over 20 countries. She went on several adventure travels with her son such as climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, going on safari in Tanzania, scuba diving in Belize, horse back riding in the Andes, observing nature in Antarctica, and photographing grizzly bears at Brooks Falls in Alaska.

During her 47 years in New Jersey, she was active in the North Branch Reformed church serving as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, and in financial rolls. She moved to South Carolina in 2017 to live at Still Hopes and be near her sister and family. She will be missed dearly by friends and family alike.

Funeral services will be Wednesday March 18 at 3:00 at the Still Hopes Chapel. In lieu of flowers donations in support of the “Nancy K. Maulding Scholarship Fund at Raritan Valley Community College” can be made payable to RVCC Foundation, 118 Lamington Road, Branchburg, NJ 08876-3315.
