Anthony Lester Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Thompson Funeral Homes - Lexington on Mar. 13, 2026.
Anthony David "Tony" Lester, 53, of West Columbia, South Carolina, passed away at his home on March 11, surrounded by loved ones. Born, February 15, 1973, at the Marine Corps Base in Quantico, Virginia, Tony was the son of the late Jerdon Hatler Lester and Mary Elizabeth Neely.

Tony was a proud graduate of Wade Hampton High School, Class of 1991. In 1996, he earned a certification from the Diamond Council of America and went on to build a successful career in the jewelry industry. Over the years, he owned and managed several jewelry stores, where he became known for his expertise, quick wit, and ability to connect with people.

Tony married Chauntee Metta Lester on November 23, 2024, and they enjoyed spending time with friends and family.

Tony was a man who truly never met a stranger. His warm personality, generous spirit, and quick sense of humor made him beloved by many. He loved Ohio State football, bowling, golf, playing cards with family, and anything competitive. Tony brought energy, laughter, and joy wherever he went. He would do anything for a friend or family member and was always ready with a smile and a story.

Tony is survived by his wife, Chauntee Metta Lester; his mother, Mary Elizabeth Neely (stepfather Mike); his children, Abbey Gaffney (husband Josh), Jacob Lester (wife Emily), and William McManus; his brothers, Jack Lester (wife Sandy) and Jim Lester (wife Kim); and his grandchildren, Rowen and Ryker Gaffney. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews: Kayla Turner (Greg), Chelsy Russ, Nick Lester, Jennifer Weaver, Cassidy Lester, and Anna Lester. In addition, he leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends who were like family to him.

His celebration of life service will be held on March 21 at 2:00 PM at Thompson Funeral Home, 4720 Augusta Rd., Lexington, SC 29073. In Tony's honor, please come dressed in either Ohio State Buckeye attire or just in casual wear. Following the service, family and friends will gather to celebrate Tony's life with one of his favorite pastimes-bowling-for one hour at Anchor Lanes, 1057 Lake Murray Blvd., Irmo, SC 29063. Those who wish to participate in bowling may do so for $10 per person.

Tony's legacy of kindness, laughter, and loyalty will live on in the many lives he touched. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Those who believe in God will cherish his memory and look forward to the day they are reunited with Tony.

I had the opportunity to see Tony at our 10 years class reunion. He has always had a great sense of humor and his kindness was infectious. May he rest in eternal peace. Wade Hampton High School Class of 91.

Earlier today

Me and my brother Tony. I have more memories than pictures. You are loved and missed. I was just thinking last night on how I would call you and ask you a question. And you would tell me let me check into what ever it was. And you would call back and we both would start laughing because it was something simple. And we would start making fun of whatever it was. I know I will never get to do that again. But I will have the memories and laughter of thinking about them. One day we will be laughing together again. I Love you Tony. Later man...
