Billy Ray Lester

Billy Ray Lester, 79, of Paynesville, West Virginia, passed away peacefully at his home on March 9, 2026, at 6:25 a.m.

Billy was a devoted father, grandfather, and great grandfather whose love for his family, in which he gave with unwavering devotions shaped the lives of everyone around him. To all who truly knew him-he was Dad in every way that mattered.

A lifelong mechanic, Billy worked with steady hands and a patient spirit until his retirement. He could fix nearly anything, and he approached every task with pride and quiet determination.

Billy was also a true outdoorsman. Hunting and fishing were more than hobbies-they were a way of life. Some of his happiest days were spent in the woods or by the water with the Kids and Grandkids at his side.

He is preceded in death by his parents Earl and Beulah McClanahan; his wife Nancy Jane Mullins Lester; daughter Donna Lester McGraw; and several brothers and sisters.

Billy is survived by his daughter Kippi Anne Lester and her special friend David Dawson; his son Hunter McGraw; his daughter Erica D. Lester and Fiancé John Henry Justice of Panther WV; sister Loretta Swiney of Galax, VA; his grandson Damon Luciouss; and his beloved great grandsons Ryder and Raidon Justice, who were the light of his later years. His Beloved Nephew Eddie Ray Lester, whom was like a son to him, and many more family members, that he cared deeply for.

He leaves behind a family who loved him deeply and were shaped by his strength, humor, and steadfast love. His legacy lives on in the lessons he taught, the stories he shared, and the countless moments of kindness he offered without hesitation.

Funeral services for Billy Ray Lester will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Crossview Church of Christ, Paynesville, WV, with Pastor Hobert Kennedy officiating.

The family will receive friends at Crossview Church of Christ on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, beginning at 6:00 p.m.
