Annie Laura Crabb Hardin, age 89, of Rome, passed away Wednesday morning, September 17, 2025, at her residence.
Annie was born in Polk County, Georgia on March 20, 1936, daughter of the late William A. "Dee" Crabb and the late Loomas A. Williams Crabb. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Alvin R. Hardin; mother and father by marriage, H.P. and Bea Hardin; sisters, Mary Jo McCollum, Frances Yarbrough, Alice Wilson, Joan Wilson and Virginia Ledford; brothers, James, Harold, C.W., and Gene Crabb; son-law, Alan Dunagan.
She graduated from Rockmart High School class of 1954 and Rome Business School, briefly working for attorneys Parker, Clary, Kent before becoming a full-time mother. Annie was an active member of Pleasant Valley North Baptist Church since 1954, serving in teaching, outreach, missions, choir, and other roles due to her many talents. She was active in the Joy SS class and the PVN Pilgrims group for seniors. Prior to her retirement, she was secretary at Calvary and PVN churches and worked at Sears department store as a clerk. She completed her work career as a secretary for Doctors Lee Battle and Gwynne Floyd. Her main job and the one she loved the most, was caring for her home and family, the role God gifted her for.
She loved life and looked for the good in everyone she met. Fun-loving, yet firm in her belief which was inclusive and accepting, to know her was to see Jesus in action. To know Annie was to love her! A bright light in this world has just grown a little dimmer. We will miss her and her inspiration forever.
Survivors include her daughters, Lindy Dew (Ricky) and Melissa Dunagan; sisters, Margaret Barber and Marie Rudeseal; grandchildren, Joshua Dunagan (Christina), Matthew Dunagan (Natalie), Justin Dew, Jett Dew (Christina), Rachel A.
