Annie Ruth Kinder, age 81, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at Norwalk Hospital surrounded by family. Born on November 6, 1943, in Manning, South Carolina, Annie was the beloved daughter of the late Johnnie Kinder Sr. and the late Annie Mae (Woods) Kinder. Annie attended Manning Training High School in Manning, South Carolina. After graduation, she relocated to New York City. Annie began her career as a unit secretary at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, later continuing her work at Saint Joseph's Hospital in Connecticut. She retired from Greenwich Hospital, where she was known for her dedication, warmth, and professionalism. Beyond her career, Annie pursued her passion for carpentry, earning a certificate that reflected her love for building and creating. A woman of many talents, Annie had a flair for fashion, a gift for crafting, and a heart that overflowed with love for her family. She found joy in traveling-especially on cruises-and embraced life with grace, strength, and a radiant spirit that touched everyone she met. Annie was preceded in death by her siblings: five brothers Leroy, Muldrow, Robert, Will Rogers, and Johnnie Kinder, Jr.; two sisters Mary Jane Kinder and Julia Fowlkes; sisters-in-law Hulean Moorer-Kinder and Eddie Lucille Davis-Kinder, and brother-in-law Alfred Fowlkes. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Vernee Brooks (Roderick) of Norwalk, CT; grandson Davon Eaddy; sister Wilhelmena Johnson (Charles) of Norwalk, CT; brother Isaac Kinder (Carolyn) of Stone Mountain, GA; two sisters-in-law Barbara Kinder of Marietta, GA; Wilhelmina Kinder of Snellville, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Visitation will be held on Wednesday September 17, 2025 from 10:00AM – 11:00AM followed by a service of celebration at 11:00AM at Calvary Baptist Church, 21 Concord St., Norwalk CT.
