Annie McCleary Gillespie McNaught McCord, age 100, passed away on October 25, 2025 at Seneca View Nursing home surrounded by the wonderful staff who cared so deeply for her. She was born on June 7, 1925, in Motherwell, Scotland to Janet and George McNaught. In her youth Annie attended Motherwell Central School. During WWII Annie worked in a steel factory and made rivets for the Bailey Bridges, which were portable, pre-fabricated, truss bridges used in the war. After the War Annie worked at Woolworths at the candy counter embracing her love for chocolate. Annie married her cherished Alexander Lindsay McCord on July 27, 1951. They were married for 67 wonderful years. In 1961 Annie bravely immigrated to the United States with her husband and two young children, leaving her extended family behind. She came to Ithaca, NY where she happily spent the rest of her life. Annie loved bowling and luckily ended up working at Helen Newman Hall, Cornell University in the bowling alley. She eventually became the bowling coach for the Cornell women's bowling team and traveled with them extensively for competitions, bringing home many trophies. In her free time, Annie enjoyed camping, singing, dancing, and being in the company of family and wonderful friends. Her biggest joy was her three grandchildren who she loved fiercely. She made a lasting impact on everyone she met. After retirement Annie and her husband spent their winters in Englewood, Florida and her same love of friends and family followed her there. There was always time for entertaining friends with food and laughter and sunbathing on Englewood Beach. Annie is survived by daughter Janette McCord, son John McCord, grandchildren Anthony Scarofile (Clara Engelhart), Shane Scarofile, Dana McCord and many nieces and nephews. Annie was preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband Alex and siblings Jim McNaught (Esther), Joe McNaught (May), Esther Hutchison (John), and Son-in-law Ron Scarofile. A celebration of life will be held on November 7, 2025, at 4:00 pm at Six Mile Creek Vineyard 1551 Slaterville Road, Ithaca, NY. The family invites friends and family to attend. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Annie's name to Hospicare, 172 East King Road, Ithaca, NY 14850 or CareFirstNY 3805 Meads Creek Road, Painted Post, NY 14870.

So sorry for your loss. Your Mum was a wonderful person. I have great memories of going to the Mccords with my parents Al and Margaret Lennon and my brother Thomas for barbecues and swimming. Your Mum was always smiling and always good natured. Many people here in Scotland send thoughts and prayers to all the family.
