Annie Carolyn Newman

Annie Carolyn Newman, age 85, of Hazlehurst passed away Thursday, September 25, 2025 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Newman was born July 4, 1940 in Snipesville to the late Jacob Walter Anderson and the late Annie Evelyn Lamb Anderson White. She was the last charter member of Macedonia Church of God. Mrs. Newman worked in secretarial services for many years with Ken D. McLeod, CPA, and Newman Logging. Mrs. Newman loved to bake and put up vegetables from her garden, and she enjoyed vacationing at her beach house.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Martin Newman, daughter, Melaine Newman Simmons, sister, Betty Jean Anderson and brothers, Paul Anderson and Roger Anderson.

Survivors include her son, Clay (Johnsie) Newman of Lumber City; brother, Allen (Jean) Anderson of Denton; grandchildren, Rachael Newman, John Casey (Kayle) Newman, Sarah (Cody) Mikell; and great grandchildren, Carter Newman, Grace Newman, Maggie Mikell and Jack Newman also survive.

Funeral services will be held Monday, September 29, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Macedonia Church of God with Rev. Van McCall and Rev. John Casey Newman officiating. Interment will follow in Palms Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Gary Newman, Donnie Newman, Chris Newman, Brian Hampton, Eli Birkhahn and Dwayne Anderson.

Honorary pallbearers will be all friends and family in attendance.

Visitation will be held Sunday evening from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Macedonia Church of God.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
