Ms. Annie Bell (Hill) Toomer, age 92, of Moncure, NC, entered eternal rest on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at her residence.
The Obituary
Annie Bell Hill Toomer was born September 10, 1932, to the late Thomas Hill Sr and Nosiey Womble Hill in Chatham County.
Aunt Bell affectionately known by family, attended Haywood School in Moncure before moving to Spokane, Washington to join the love of her life Robert who was in the Air Force. After Robert was discharged they made New York their home for approximately 40 years before retiring and moving back to their roots.
While living in New York she joined Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where she served in many capacities. She worked for Stroust Food Services for many years and after moving back to North Carolina she worked at K&W Cafeteria in Chapel Hill until she retired.
Bell joined Liberty Chapel Church and served on the usher board, she was a Past Worthy Matron of C Wesley Samuels Chapter #664 Order of Eastern Stars.
Bell was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Robert Toney Toomer Sr; siblings, Tommy, Henry, Percy and Charlie.
Bell leave to mourn her son, Robert Toney Toomer, (Runita) of Knightdale, NC; one daughter, Janet Michelle Minkerson; a special grandson, Dwayne Toomer, that she raised as her own of Sanford, NC, six grands, Russell, Sherrell, Dien, Vanessa, Angelique/Jayden; nine great-grands and two great-great grandchildren; one honorary son, Timotheus Dukes; one brother, Paul Hill of NY and a honorary daughter, Fran Kelly; sisters in law, Nora Hill of Sanford, NC, Corene Richardson, (Harold) of Sarasota, Florida, and Emily Toomer of NY; one brother-in-law, John Toomer (Jessie) of Raleigh, NC; best friends, Inez Smith, Beatrice Bonds and Gloria Griffen; a special cousin, Daisy Denny; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
