Annie Zvingilas, 88, of
Plainfield, CT, left the Earth peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Monday, February 9th, 2026.
Annie was born on May 20th, 1937, to Edward L. and Pauline (Garra) Colbridge Sr. in
Norwich, CT. A lifelong resident of
Plainfield, CT, she met and married the love of her life, her husband Richard (Dick) Zvingilas, where they raised their three children together.
She worked various jobs throughout her life, primarily in manufacturing and textiles, ultimately retiring from BST Systems in 2012, where she was loved by all and made many close friends over the years.
She enjoyed many hobbies throughout her life and into retirement, from cooking delicious meals and listening to her favorite music, to going to the movies, shopping till she dropped, dining out with friends, working in the garden, and crafting tinctures and elixirs from her homegrown herbs. She loved taking photographs of nature during walks through the state forest, taking dance classes at Marie's Fitness, socializing at Rising Moon Natural Foods, spending time with her beloved doggies Trixie, Molly, and Teddy, and going on numerous adventures across the country with the love of her life.
Annie was the matriarch of her family, always knowing when and where someone was in need. Whether it was a shoulder to cry on or an ear to lend, she would listen to anyone who needed to chat.
Known for her quick wit and great sense of humor, Annie was the friend everyone wanted to have. She was loving and caring to all creatures, no matter how big or how small. She was always down for a celebration and often the "life of the party."
She will, for lack of words, be missed by all who came into her orbit. She was predeceased by her parents, Edward L. and Pauline (Garra) Colbridge Sr.; her loving husband, Richard Zvingilas; her oldest brother, Eddie Colbridge; and her sister, Patty Glennon. She leaves behind an incredibly large and loving, close family, including her daughter Dawn and husband Walter Cwynar; son Lance Zvingilas; daughter Lorna Zvingilas and her partner Desmond Jones; her beloved granddaughters Haley Cwynar and her partner Craig Nelson, and Lydia Mackela and her partner Timothy Jordan; loving sisters Dottie Bodo and Paula and her husband Larry Brisson; as well as numerous nephews, nieces, and too many friends to mention.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local animal shelters or nature conservancies in your area. Services for Annie will be announced at a later date.
