Antarita Sinulingga Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McCauley-Sullivan Funeral Home & Crematorium on Feb. 21, 2026.
Antarita Sinulingga, a devoted single mother, a nurturing teacher, a gifted chef, and a woman whose extraordinary kindness left a lasting mark on all who knew her. She was called home on February 20, 2026, at the age of 62.

Born on July 30, 1963, Antarita lived a life defined by service and love. As a single mother, she raised her daughter Febe Yemima with immense strength, grace, and unwavering dedication - giving her everything while asking for nothing in return. That same love extended far beyond her own home. As a childcare teacher, she shaped the hearts and minds of countless young children, opening her arms to help raise many others as her own, offering them a safe space filled with warmth, patience, and encouragement. Her passion for nurturing others extended beyond the classroom - in the kitchen, she expressed her love through food, cooking with a skill and creativity that brought people together around the table.

Antarita was a woman of remarkable character. Her servant's heart was evident in everything she did - quietly giving, selflessly helping, and lifting those around her without expectation of recognition. Her kindness was not a gesture; it was a way of life. She touched the lives of many, and those who crossed her path were forever better for it.

In her final chapter, Antarita faced a diagnosis of stage four lung cancer with the same quiet courage and grace that had defined her entire life. Even as her body grew weary from the weight of illness, her spirit never wavered. She continued to smile, to encourage, and to pour into the lives of those around her - never allowing her suffering to become a burden on others. Where many would have turned inward, she remained outward-focused, still asking how she could help, still offering comfort even when she was the one in need of it. Her battle was fierce, but so was her faith and her love. She fought not out of fear, but out of a deep desire to remain present for the people she cherished. Antarita's strength in the face of such adversity was not extraordinary because it was new - it was extraordinary because it was entirely, unmistakably her.

She is survived by her beloved daughter, Febe Yemima, the joy of her heart; and her five cherished sisters, Wartaria Sinulingga, Ranitha Sinulingga, Ayunita Sinulingga, Aloina Sinulingga, and Hagaina Sinulingga. Though the loss of Antarita leaves a deep and irreplaceable void, her legacy of love, humility, and service will continue to live on in each of them.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Awal Jaya Sinulingga.

Visitation will take place on Friday, February 27th, 2026 from 4:00pm until 6:00pm at McCauley-Sullivan Funeral Home & Crematorium, 530 West Boughton Road, Bolingbrook, Illinois 60440. Service will proceed in the chapel at 6:00pm. Internment will take place in her hometown of Medan, Indonesia.
