Anthony Jerome Harter, also known as AJ, passed away on September 27, 2023, at the age of 51 in Lecanto, Florida. He was born on May 29, 1972, in New Albany, Indiana. AJ will be remembered for his easy-going nature and dry sarcastic sense of humor.
AJ is survived by his partner, Gene Foster. He is also survived by his parents, David and Sandra Harter, his brother and sister-in-law, Brian and Heather Harter, his sister and brother-in-law, Melissa and Andy Shaffer, his sister and brother-in-law, Gail and Bryan Wallace, as well as his nephews, CD Shaffer and Liam Wallace, and nieces Sarah Shaffer, April Lovelace, and Meagan Wallace. AJ was also a great-uncle to Harper and Jacob Lovelace.
AJ had a career as a CIRTS Specialist at Cares of Florida and previously worked for Nielson Media Research.
In his free time, AJ enjoyed scuba diving in his younger years and was an avid fan of the TV shows "Young Sheldon" and "Family Feud." He enjoyed quiet time at home with his partner Gene and their beloved dog Maxine.
Memorial services will be held at New Amsterdam Cemetery on October 17th, at 5:30pm in New Amsterdam, Indiana to celebrate AJ's life.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Habitat for Humanity of Citrus County in memory of AJ.
