Anthony Charles Bentivegna, 82, of Newnan, known affectionately as Tony to his friends and family, died Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Piedmont Newnan Hospital.

Born August 3, 1943, in Brooklyn, New York, he was a son of the late Calogero Bentivegna and the late Margaret Mineo Bentivegna. Tony's early years in Brooklyn instilled in him a deep sense of community which he carried with him throughout his life. His love for the New York Yankees was just as profound, and he followed the team with unwavering loyalty, celebrating their victories with the same pride he felt for his Brooklyn roots. He was of the Catholic Faith and had attended services at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Newnan. A true lover of music, Tony's passion for the melodies of the 50s and 80s provided a soundtrack to many cherished memories. His enthusiasm for the oldies was contagious, and he could often be found humming a tune or swaying to the rhythm of his favorite songs. The beach was a place of serenity for Tony, where the sound of the waves and the feel of the sand beneath his feet provided a sense of peace and happiness. It was his haven, a place where he could relax and reflect on the beauty of life. A man of simple tastes, Tony found pleasure in the culinary delights of life. He had an affinity for ziti with meat sauce, reveling in the comfort of a well-prepared meal. His sweet tooth was satisfied by the simple pleasures of plain vanilla ice cream topped with whipped cream, a stack of pancakes drenched in Mrs. Butterworth's Syrup, and the irresistible crumb cake that he just couldn't resist. Tony's legacy is one of love, laughter, and the enduring power of human connection. As we say farewell to Anthony Charles Bentivegna, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of moments that will be treasured forever in the hearts of his family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Bentivegna.

Survivors include his children, Stephanie VanDyke and her husband David of Newnan, and Charles Bentivegna and his wife Nicole of Charlotte; a brother, Basil Bentivegna (Delores); and grandchildren, Andrew, Carly, Jacob, and Landon.

The family will hold a private memorial service.

In lieu of flowers, it was Tony's wish that donations be made to The Tunnels to Towers Foundation at https://t2t.org in his memory.
