Mr. Bertoldo served both as an actor and stage technician in the Broadway musicals produced at Storrowton. This led to his professional acting career in New York and 'on the road' in a wide variety of featured roles in such plays and musicals as, The Long Voyage Home, Too Young-Too Old, Green Grow The Lilacs, Diary of Anne Frank, Guys and Dolls, George Washington Slept Here: Fiorello!, The Music Man, Bye Bye Birdie, Carousel, Destry Rides Again, Carnival, Mr. Roberts, The Merchant of Venice, Julius Caesar, and so many others. Tony also directed productions of Brigadoon, Carousel, Blue Denim, South Pacific, and several Shakespearean plays including, Julius Caesar, Macbeth, Romeo & Juliet, and Hamlet. in the 1970s & 1980s, Tony had a lengthy career in retail management in New England and Washington, DC. And in the 1980s and 1990s, he owned many movie theaters in Massachusetts, Connecticut and Vermont with his business partner and longtime friend, Danny Boyle of Westfield.
Along with his dear friend, Danny, Tony leaves behind many cousins in both Italy and the United States, his godson, John Martin & domestic partner Patricia Patty Abare who took care of Tony for the past 30+ years at their home in Springfield. Tony spent his last few years as a resident of Heritage Hall East in Agawam, where he was lovingly cared for by the amazing team of nurses, aides, and doctors.
