Anthony Cartozzo Obituary

Anthony Joseph Cartozzo passed away surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday afternoon, January 17, 2017. He was 56 years old. Loving son of Frances Cartozzo and the late Henry Anthony Cartozzo Sr. Brother of Angelo Cartozzo (Kelly) and Henry Anthony Cartozzo Jr. (Peggi). Uncle of Jennifer Laine, Candase Cartozzo, Angelo Cartozzo Jr., Caitlin Cartozzo, Luke Cartozzo, and Harlo Cartozzo. Former husband of Maria Roach. Also survived by his two Siberian Huskies, Primo and Santino. "Tony" was a native of New Orleans and was a lifelong resident of Metairie. He graduated from Archbishop Rummel High School in 1978. After graduating, he assisted his family with the management and operations of Frances' Bakery and later Cartozzo's Bakery. Tony was a passionate animal lover, and in lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory to the Jefferson Parish SPCA are preferred. Relatives and friends of the family, as well as current and former employees of Frances' and Cartozzo's Bakeries are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial from ST. EDWARD THE CONFESSOR, 4921 West Metairie Avenue, Metairie, on Saturday afternoon, January 21, 2017 at 1:00. Visitation will begin in church at 10:00 in the morning. Interment will follow in Lake Lawn Park, New Orleans. An online guestbook is available at www.leitzeaganfuneralhome.com.

Although it's been years since I've seen any of the Cartozzos, I often thought of each of them throughout the years. I had the pleasure of working with this wonderful family when they first opened Frances Bakery back in the early eighties. My heart and prayers are with you all at this time of sorrow. What I remember most about Tony was that beautiful smile. So sorry for your loss Ms. Frances.
