Anthony John Curreri, born October 19, 1944 left the Bar and the Stage May 18, 2025 after a grueling and courageous battle.
Tony - Little Tony to some- was born in McKeesport, PA but grew up in and was a true Brooklyn guy.
He attended Stella Adler Conservatory and moved to California under contract to Warner Bros. Since life doesn't always go as planned, he bartended at Martoni's in LA - serving the music industry there. Fun Fact: Billy Joel, a customer early in his career, told Tony that he was the bartender in Piano Man -- with his style of serving the customer, telling jokes and lighting the smokes.
Tony and his little family moved to Palm Springs when his boss opened a restaurant/bar in the Club Trinidad where he garnered a sizable 'posse'. He served and worked for the likes of Frank Sinatra.
He bartended for 50 years, mostly throughout Palm Springs, and the posse followed. He had the most amazing stories.
Golf was his great love - he was pretty good! But when his battle began, golf was a casualty.
When Tony entered a room, he filled it with charisma, charm and humor. He loved to cook for and entertain his friends. He was a good man, generous with hugs, made every lady feel special and was there for you if you needed a shoulder.
Generous to a fault and that smile! Would just melt your heart.
Tony left behind his devastated wife, Karen, who fought hard with him in his battle, his stepson Doyle Halper with whom he had a special bond all of Doyle's life. His first wife, Brenda, friends until the end, beautiful daughter, Dori, son Jeffrey, and six terrific grandkids - Davin, Payton, Anton, Lewis, Andrew and Gabriella. His sister, Elaine Rurriane, neice, Stacey and family. Finally, his sister-in-law, Sister Mary Howard Moriarty, IBVM who had the convents in the US, Canada and Ireland praying for him.
Tony touched so very many people. They will never forget the twinkle in his eye or that little sly smile.
He loved his wife "more than life" and she loved him "beyond hyperbole". Quite a pair. Grá geal mo chroí, Ton.
