It is with love and gratitude that we celebrate the life of Anthony "Tony" D'Amico, who passed away peacefully on August 19, 2025, in Las Vegas, NV at the age of 84.
Born on September 27, 1940, in beautiful Fernie, British Columbia, Tony was the second of five children and the oldest boy to Roger D'Amico and Dolly (Parma) Carolla. Growing up surrounded by the rivers and mountains of Fernie, he developed a deep appreciation for nature and hard work. He spent his childhood playing in the river behind the family home, helping his grandfather haul timber, and honing his skills on the ice rink as a talented hockey player-lessons that built the foundation for his lifelong discipline and dedication.
As a teenager, Tony made a bold move from Fernie to Las Vegas, Nevada, following a few of his aunts who had made the journey before him. At just 18, he proudly enlisted in the United States Army, serving from 1959 to 1961 and achieving the rank of Specialist Four in the Ordnance Corps. Tony trained as an Ordnance Supply Specialist and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal for his honorable service. He spent time stationed in Germany, where he enjoyed traveling throughout Europe and making lifelong memories.
After returning home, Tony built an accomplished 40-year career in the Las Vegas gaming industry. He began dealing at the Fremont, Thunderbird, and Caesars Palace hotels, later advancing at the Cal Neva and Riviera as a Floor Supervisor. Known for his professionalism and integrity, he spent many years as a respected Floor Manager at the Dunes Hotel & Casino. Eventually, Tony went on to work under Steve Wynn, helping to open several of Wynn's landmark resorts-including The Mirage, Treasure Island, and Bellagio-until his retirement in the early 2000s.
Tony was a pillar in the D'Amico family. Everyone looked forward to seeing him at holidays, often arriving in a crisp suit and bringing warmth, wit, and laughter to every gathering. He loved taking his beloved Auntie Mary out for dinners and martinis, sharing his love of golf with his nieces and nephews, and treating visiting family to the full Las Vegas experience.
He lived life with great integrity, cared deeply for his friends and family, and earned the respect of everyone who knew him. Tony took pride in his health and stayed active, playing golf twice a week well into his later years.
Tony will be dearly missed by his entire family and remembered with love by all who were fortunate to know him. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 12th at The Summit at Sun City Summerlin from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., where family and friends will gather to honor a life defined by loyalty, humor, and heart.
Tony's legacy lives on through the many lives he touched-a reminder that true success is found not only in what you achieve, but in the kindness, generosity, and love you leave behind.
