Anthony "Tony" DiPersio – age 62, husband of Marsha A. (Kenney) DiPersio died peacefully Thursday, May 15, 2025 at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston with his family by his side after battling EGFR lung cancer.
He was born in Woburn, April 23, 1963 a son of the late Attilio and Anita (Mazza) DiPersio. He was raised in Burlington and moved to Billerica in 1988 in the home he built to grow his family.
Anthony was a man of many passions, but none greater than the love he shared with his late wife, Marsha, his partner for over 40 years. Together, they built a life filled with music, laughter, and deep connection. Whether attending concerts, listening to rock music, or singing along while he played guitar, their bond was unmistakable and inspiring. She was truly the love of his life.
A master guitarist and lifelong lover of music, he played in rock bands and found joy in the timeless sounds of artists like Queen, KISS, The Who, Van Halen, and Led Zeppelin. He was happiest with a guitar in hand, often sharing his gift with anyone willing to learn including his daughter, Jacqueline and granddaughter, Gwen. He loved his time spent with his siblings whether it be watching a football game together or playing and singing music around the fire. Every year they had their annual Rock and Roll Christmas caroling, and they all would play a musical instrument and sing while performing door to door.
He had a deep passion for learning, especially when it came to history and the enduring mystery of who killed President John F. Kennedy, a topic he studied with true fascination. He hopefully now knows the truth of who killed JFK. He dove head first into interesting topics such as the sinking of the Titanic and other historical events. He was always curious, always thinking, and never stopped seeking knowledge.
He flew RC planes and built a thriving, tight-knit community around the hobby with the Middlesex County RC fliers. Generous with his time and patient in his teaching, he loved helping others take flight and took pride in passing along his skills. He made many lifelong friends through his passion of flying RC planes.
Anthony took after his father and became a skilled plasterer and business owner for over 30 years. He later found purpose and pride in his second career as a home health aide, where he brought care, integrity, and connection to the homes and hearts of many.
Known to his friends and family as the nickname "Shark" due to his lifelong love for the movie Jaws, he also took pride in his personal style, often seen wearing black, always put together, with his hair just right and a smooth shave. His appearance reflected the confidence and cool energy that were just part of his persona.
He was a devoted father who coached and umpired softball, and played an active role in the Billerica Softball league. He also spent many hours playing on the golf course and never gave up on the hopeless attempts of teaching his daughters the game. He adored playing with his grandchildren, often playing pranks and cracking jokes. He loved bringing the kids to amusement parks, the beach, and the adventurous Codzilla in Boston Harbor. He often had more fun than the kids!
A hands-on guy through and through, he loved building, modifying, and improving anything he touched. He loved mowing his lawn, building pools in the backyard, working on his planes in the basement, and detailing his sports cars in the driveway.
He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, music, mentorship, curiosity, and love. He was one of a kind, an inspiration to many, a true original, and a man who lived life with heart, humor, and style. He will be missed deeply by his family, his many close friends, and everyone fortunate enough to have known him. He was endlessly proud of his successful children and grandchildren, and never missed a chance to celebrate their achievements.
He is survived by his daughters, Samantha Bilotta and her husband Stephen of Dracut, Jessica Thain and her husband Corey of Frisco, TX, Bianca Bye and her husband Martin of Dracut and Jacqueline DiPersio of Chelmsford; his brothers, Frank DiPersio and his wife Anne of VT, Attilio DiPersio and his wife Sara of FL; his sisters, Lena Lentini and her husband Dan of Burlington, and Sandy Saia and her husband Mark of Burlington. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren, Evan, Colin, Gwen, Carter, Brooke, Grace, and Emmy and many friends and family members.
Anthony's funeral arrangements will be private and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
