Anthony Farmer Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home (Keen Mountain) on Jan. 1, 2026.
Anthony Mark "Tony" Farmer left his earthly body on December 28, 2025. He was surrounded by his wife and son who loved him more than the entire world.
Tony was a retired coal miner having given over 30 years of his life to United Coal, where he made many lifelong friends.
He was an avid NASCAR fan, loved his Minnesota Vikings football and loved his family more than anything else. He was the kindest, most selfless soul. His smile and laugh were infectious and contagious.
Before Tony's passing, he was preceded by his mother, Agnes Yates Farmer, Father Bernard Farmer and his brother Rick Farmer.
Tony leaves behind an amazing wife and best friend of 45 years Rebecca Farmer of Vansant, VA, and his only son Wish Farmer of Vansant, VA, special adopted son Jacob Griffey, and his little companion Buddy. In addition to this he leaves behind his brother Marty Farmer and his wife Barbara Sue of Bristol, his sister Becky Burniston and her husband Tom of Vansant, and the nieces and nephews that he loved with his whole heart, Neil Farmer, Carrie Schehl and husband Nate, Marta Farmer, Morgan Farmer, Sarah Farmer, Nick Childress, Carter Burniston and wife Kalei, Thomas Burniston and wife Miriam.
Tony was a special soul, kind and honorable. Those who knew Tony will cherish his memory forever because a man like him is hard to find.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. at Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home Chapel at Keen Mountain, VA with Pastors Eddie Lindsay, Larry David Ratliff, and Jim Fuller officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday at 3:00 p.m. until the funeral hour.
