Published by Legacy on Jan. 11, 2024.
Anthony Michael Frato unexpectedly passed away in his sleep on Jan. 5, 2024 in Alexandria, Virginia. Antonio, as he was known, was born in Cleveland, Ohio on August 27, 1938 to Dominic and Viola Frato. He attended Cathedral Latin High School and Kent State University, earning a Master of Arts in Community Psychology.

After working in the field of social services and teaching high school for several years, Antonio worked for the City of Alexandria, Virginia, as a substance abuse counselor from 1991 to 1998. He continued with the City of Alexandria as an employment counselor until 2003.

In 2002, Antonio completed further studies and became a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the Commonwealth of Virginia. He began counseling services in his private practice in 2002.

In 2019, Antonio married Pamela Sue Johnson. Although they found each other late in life, they enjoyed every day of their new found love. Antonio and Pam enjoyed attending church, dances, and concerts, and taking walks around the nearby lake. They were happy just being together.

Antonio leaves behind his wife Pam, sister Marcella Castellarin, six nephews, a niece, and many friends. He is predeceased by his brother Richard Frato. He was cremated and placed for Eternity at Ivy Hill Cemetery in Alexandria, VA.

Antonio became a friend to our family more than fifty years ago. For the past few years, he organized and let a Sunday afternoon Bible study group by Zoom. Tony also continued to serve his community as a counselor for troubled people. At the time of his death, Antonio had also written a book about comparative medical practices and was about to take it to press. He and Pam were very happy with their new found lives.
