Anthony Todd Garrison, aged 35, passed away peacefully at his home in
Lincoln, Alabama, surrounded by his loving family on November 29, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on June 10, 1990, to Stacey (née Disspain) and Cecil Garrison, Jr., Todd grew up in the close-knit community of Lincoln. He attended Jacksonville State University, where he majored in physical education before earning a master's degree in sports management and was an active member of the Delta Chi fraternity. It was during his college years that he met the love of his life, Meredith (née Conduff), and they married on January 3, 2015.
After graduation, Todd and Meredith chose to return to Lincoln to raise their growing family in the community that had nurtured him. Todd began his career teaching at Childersburg High School before joining Lincoln Elementary School as a PE teacher. Later, he joined Jacksonville State University staff as an Athletic Academic Advisor before becoming the Director of Career Initiative. In 2023, he enthusiastically accepted the role of athletic director for the Lincoln Parks and Recreation Department, merging his passion for sports with his dedication to serving the community he cherished.
Todd was an avid sports enthusiast, a die-hard Alabama football fan, and a devoted Atlanta Braves supporter. Todd enjoyed spending his spare time as a Football referee. He had a distinguished officiating career with the Mid-East High School Football Association and the NCAA Gulf South and Ohio Valley conferences. Todd enjoyed watching any sporting event, appreciating both the sport and the skill of the refereeing. However, Todd's greatest joy and pride were his sons, John Parker and Luke. He loved being their father. He cherished fatherhood, finding immense joy in sharing experiences with his sons and watching them grow.
Known for his warm personality, Todd never met a stranger, and if he did, they didn't remain one for long. His infectious smile and laughter made any gathering more enjoyable. Todd's career, hobbies, and interests were a testament to his commitment to others; everything he did was in service of those around him.
Todd is survived by his beloved wife, Meredith; his sons, John Parker and Luke; his parents, Cecil and Stacey Garrison; his brother, Dillon (Jada); and a wide circle of family and friends. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, James Cecil Garrison, Sr., Sandra Simpson, and Jesse Simpson, and his maternal grandparents, Charlie and Shirley Disspain.
Funeral services will be held December 3 at 1 pm at Talladega Baptist Church (216 North St. E,
Talladega, AL 35160). The family will receive friends at the church before the service from 11-1. Interment will follow at Lincoln Cemetery in
Lincoln, Alabama.
Serving as pallbearers are Mark Alldredge, Dillon Garrison, Brian Hann, Alan Skinner, Courtney Thrash, and Jon Tisdale. Honorary pallbearers are the Mid-East Football Association, Gulf South Conference, and Ohio Valley Conference football officiating crews.
Todd was a regular donor to the Jimmy V Foundation before his diagnosis. During his own battle, he found solace in the Foundation's inspiring stories of others undergoing treatment. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Jimmy V Foundation in Todd's memory.
