Anthony Giammona

Anthony Giammona, 72, of Cedar Grove, N.J., passed away on February 5, 2024. Visitation will be on Thursday, February 8, 2024 from 2-5 p.m. at Shook's Cedar Grove Funeral Home, 486 Pompton Ave., Cedar Grove. Services begin on Friday, February 9, 2024 after 9 a.m. at the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Cedar Grove, with interment at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Montclair, N.J. Born and raised in Newark, N.J., Anthony lived in Cedar Grove for many years. He proudly served in the U.S. Army before being honorably discharged. For most of his life, he was a roofer. He then became a security guard at the Meadowlands Complex in East Rutherford, N.J. He was also a delivery driver with Luigi's Restaurant in Newark. Anthony had a kind heart and assisted many residents at Cedar Ridge Senior Housing in Cedar Grove.
Predeceased by his parents, Anthony and Louisa Giammona, and sister, Agatha Machalla, Marie Pezzella, and niece, Tara Whitman, he is survived by his loving companion of over 10 years, Rosemary Rappaport; cherished son, John Giammona (Lisa); dear sisters, Lucille Giammona and Enna DelRusso; and many nieces and nephews, Ann Whitman, Anthony Pezzella (Debbie), Lisa Porada (John), Vincent DelRusso (Diane), and Susan Machalla Saltarelli; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
