Anthony Robert "Tony" Hanbury, 41, beloved son, father, husband, race car driver and avid hunter, passed away Sunday, August 31, 2025, due to an ATV accident. Tony was predeceased by his father, Robert Hanbury; paternal grandmother, Linda Hanbury; maternal grandparents, Harry and Doris Howland. He is survived by his wife, Doniel; two daughters, Makenzie, Cloie; mother and step-father, Carol and John Emms; his brothers and sisters, Dustin, Andrielle (Billy), Dionna (Robert), Louis, Serita (Billy), Joshua; paternal grandfather, Claude Hanbury; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Daryl and Sharon Lewis; aunts and uncles, Bill (Maleia), Donna, Harry(Maureen), Dan (Annemarie), Patricia (Jerry), Alice (Bill), Cheryl (Chris) Don (Terri); his dog, Piper; several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, friends and his racing community. Tony graduated from Tioga Central High School, class of 2002. He was a true champion in life both on and off the track. Tony's racing career started at a very young age. He raced microds and went on to be a Drivers Champion, winning multiple state and track championships. He truly loved the sport and went out of his way to help other competitors. Tony mentored many young drivers and was highly respected by the entire racing community. His smile and handshake were his bond. He was never afraid to question the rules and stand up for all competitors, as he advocated for fair and honest racing. Tony respected all of his fellow competitors, track officials and all those involved in the sport. Watching him on the track was pure poetry, as he made his way to the front for the win so very many times. Tony also loved deer season. Every year he could be found at deer camp enjoying the season and spending time with friends and family hunting. A good campfire, stories and so many laughs. Tony will be missed by all that knew him. A man that just can not be replaced and taken far too young! Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 5th at 11:00 a.m. at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 15 Park Street, Owego, NY. Burial will follow in the Tioga Cemetery, Owego, NY. The family will receive friends Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in Anthony R. To the Hanbury family
I am so sorry to hear the devastating news of Tony´s passing. A lot of memories of that cute little kid at the Microd Club. My heart goes out to his entire family.

I will forever be grateful for the memories and friendship you gave me. David loved seeing you at the track and he will miss "pretty Kenzies Daddy". Keep chasing the checkers up there, we got them down here. Rest easy 42
