Donald L. Archibald, Jr., known affectionately as Don, Bud, and Donnie to his family and friends, brought an abundance of joy and adventure to the lives he touched. Born on April 24, 1985, in Sayre, Pennsylvania, he entered this world with a spark that would become a radiant light to all who knew him. His journey on earth came to a tragic end on September 6, 2025, when he passed away due to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.

Bud was a beloved figure in his community, having graduated from Tioga Central High School in 2003. He was not only a well-loved classmate but also a star running back, wearing the number 88 jersey with pride for the Tioga Football team. His passion for mechanics led him to Broome Tioga BOCES, where he honed his skills in auto mechanics. Known for his striking "blue eyes," Bud's charm was recognized by his peers, and he was voted to have the best blue eyes in his senior year.

Bud's professional life was as an esteemed employee of BestBev in Waverly, where his infectious smile, those same blue eyes that won him accolades in high school, and his unwavering friendliness made him a beloved colleague.

Bud's interests painted the picture of a man who embraced life with open arms. His love for his children, Chase, Delaney, and Marcus, was unparalleled, and he cherished every moment spent with them. An avid fan of 4-wheeler riding and Quad races, Bud earned the nickname "The Legend" at Champion Speedway. His presence at a party meant laughter and joy, and he was often the last to leave the warmth of a bonfire gathering. A fervent supporter of the NY Giants and Kyle Bush racing, Bud's enthusiasm for his interests was contagious.

Described by those who knew him as loving, adventurous, and handy, Bud was always ready to lend a helping hand. His willingness to assist anyone in need was a testament to his generous spirit. With just a phone call, he would be right there, embodying the well-known quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson, "The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well."

Bud leaves behind a loving family. His children, Chase Archibald, Delaney Archibald and Marcus Talcott, will carry forward his legacy of love and adventure. His father, Donald L. Archibald, Sr., and his siblings, Brandy (Jeff) Noe and Bridget (Scott) Riley, will hold dear the memories of a life shared with a man of great character. His Grandmother Eleanor Archibald along with his nieces and nephew, Jeffrey, Kendra, Ameilia and Raeann will greatly miss his enveloping hugs. Bud’s departure is also mourned by several aunts, uncles, numerous cousins, and many, many friends who were fortunate enough to have known him. Bud's mother, Penny Lynn (Foust) Archibald, his infant son, Derek Thomas Archibald, his grandparents: Arthur and Pearl Foust, William Archibald all predeceased him, and we take comfort in knowing they have welcomed him with open arms.

Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation on Thursday, September 11th from 4 – 7 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols. A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, September 12th at 1 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel with Pastor Alan Bill, officiating. Bud will be laid to rest next to his grandparents in the Nichols Cemetery. Memories and condolences may be shared by visiting his guestbook at www.sutfinfuneralchapel.com The world is a little less bright without Don's radiant smile and the sparkle of his blue eyes, but his spirit will continue to inspire those he left behind. His legacy of kindness, joy, and the love he had for life will be cherished and remembered always.
