Anthony Shane Hunt, 28, of Canaan, passed away unexpectedly as the result of a motor vehicle accident on September 9th. Anthony was a beloved father, son, brother, fiancé, nephew, cousin and friend. To know him was to love him.
Anthony was born at 10:04am on June 7, 1996 at Redington-Fairview General Hospital. He was the second son for Jill Gilbert-Hunt and Shane Hunt. He attended schools in Canaan & Skowhegan. He was a member of the class of 2014. He was a three sport athlete all thru school. You could find him on the football field as part of the "boys of fall", the basketball court and the baseball field as part of the "boys of summer". Anthony had become a renaissance man, a jack of all trades with careers in drywall, roofing, masonry, hvac systems and many more.
Anthony was well known and loved for his love of bowling, which started when he was a toddler with his Grampy Gilbert, belonging to the Skowhegan and Augusta area leagues. He was named bowler of the year in 2023. He had most recently started learning the game of golf. He could also be found anywhere there was a Cornhole game happening. The life of any party he attended.
Anthony will be remembered for his love of life, family and work. His sense of humor and how compassionate and kind he could be. Humble to a fault he never wanted to ask for help, but wouldn't think twice if someone asked for his. Anthony wore his heart on his sleeve, loved deeply, and always tried to keep the peace when faced with discord. He enjoyed going to concerts and sitting in the tattoo chair. His family camp in Steuben, Maine was his calming place. His daughter and fiancée were his whole world & heart.
Anthony is survived by his daughter, Alixandra Scarlette of Canaan, his beautiful fiancée and love of his life, Serena Richard, of Canaan, mother, Jill Gilbert-Hunt of Skowhegan, brother, Skyler Hunt of Skowhegan, father Shane Hunt and his wife Karen of Oakland, stepsister Elizabeth Hume of Oakland, his lifelong best friend Zackary Brown, currently stationed overseas, many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Anthony was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, David & Dorothy Gilbert, his paternal grandmother, Sherrill Hunt, great aunt Sara Norris, as well other aunts, uncles and cousins.
A celebration of Life will be held on September 29th at 1pm at T&B's Celebration Center. Friends and family are welcome to attend to pay their respects to his family and share the many stories of his life.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Alixandra's college fund, in care of Treston Bergeron, Assistant Vice President, Branch Manager at Bangor Savings Bank, 113 Madison Avenue, Skowhegan, Maine 04976.
Anthony will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who were blessed to know him.
