Gerald Hunt Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Reeb Funeral Home on Feb. 17, 2026.
Gerald "Jerry" Hunt passed away on Sunday, February 15, surrounded by his family's love, leaving
behind a legacy of strength, laughter, and unwavering devotion. Jerry loved his family and friends, and
their love for him was abundant.

To his grandchildren, he was "Papa," a name he carried with pride. As "Papa," he was present and
engaged. His grandchildren will remember his adoration and the unique bond he had with each of them.
His grandchildren's athletic accomplishments and his enjoyment of their musical performances gave him
immense pride.

Jerry was a 1967 graduate of Woodward High School. He spent 33 years at Dana Corporation, where he
held several positions.

Jerry was a gifted athlete and lifelong competitor. Baseball and softball were his passions, and he brought
intensity, skill, and heart to every game. He also excelled at golf and bowling. Jerry achieved the rare
milestone of an 800 series, a testament to his discipline and skill.

He shared his love of sports by coaching basketball and baseball for many years. He expected effort,
taught accountability, and believed in teamwork. The players he coached (including his children) carried
these lessons with them.

Jerry was known for his humor. He was quick with a joke, enjoyed a good prank, and had an easy charm
that drew people in. During his many years as President of the Commodore Club, he built friendships and
strengthened ties within the community. Above all, Jerry was dependable. He was a loyal friend and was
described by many as "a friend who was always there."

Jerry will be remembered for his competitiveness, humor, dependability, and commitment to his family. He
is irreplaceable and will be deeply missed.

Jerry is survived by his beloved, Molly Drew, who shared many years of travel and partnership with him
and cared for him faithfully.

He leaves behind his first wife, Alberta Hunt; his son, Scott Hunt and his wife, Fe Hunt, and their children,
Wilhelmina Hunt, Finn Hunt, and Ridley Hunt; his daughter, Shelby Sauer, and her husband, Rob Sauer,
and their daughters, Lucy Sauer and Alayna Sauer. Shelby cared for her father with steadiness, love, and
devotion throughout his illness.

He is survived by his brother Thomas Hunt and his wife, Betty, and their children TJ Hunt, Chad Hunt,
Kyle Hunt, and Kelly Hunt; his sister Patricia Frost and her son Gary Frost; and his sister-in-law, Lynda
Hunt, and her children Tom Patrick Hunt, Karen Kendrick, and Jodi Rupp.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thelma and Thomas Hunt; stepfather Martin "Benny" Karl; and
his brother, Ronald Hunt.

The family would like to thank the staff of both Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Toledo and
Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their wonderful care and compassion.

Visitation will be held on Friday February 20, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. until the Funeral Service begins at 12:00 p.m. at Reeb Funeral Home Interment to Follow Forest Cemetery

I played a lot of softball with Jerry and his brother Tommy. Yes, he was very competitive. Great guy!
