Nick Liggett Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Reeb Funeral Home on Feb. 18, 2026.
Nick A. Liggett passed away after a fearless battle with cancer on February 15, 2026. Nick was born February 26, 1959, to Bill and Ann Liggett in Toledo, Ohio. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.

Nick married the love of his life, Anita, and together they spent 44 years building a home founded on faith, friendship, and mutual respect. He was the rock of his family, the steady hand and dependable heart you could count on in every season of life. He intertwined humor into the majority of his interactions, using it to ease tension, brighten days, and remind everyone that life is lighter when we meet it with a smile. His life was a prayer lived out loud: humble, hopeful, and always ready with a wise word, a listening ear, and a comforting presence. He was faithful, joyful, and a force to be reckoned with in the best sense-steady, brave, and full of life.

He was a devoted father to Nichole and Brittany, who inherited his perseverance, his humor, and his belief that every challenge is surmountable. His grandchildren, Rylie and Marshall, brought joy to his days and were the lights of his life. He was so proud to be their "Papa." He looked forward with great anticipation to meeting two new additions to his family this fall.

Nick loved his family with a depth and devotion that defined his life. He shared a bond with each of them that was uniquely their own-special connections built on understanding, wisdom, and endless support. He gave the most caring and dependable parts of himself to those he loved, always knowing just what each person needed.

His love was unconditional, constant, and deeply felt, and in return he was loved just as fiercely. His family was his greatest joy, and the strength of those relationships will remain a lasting reflection of the man he was.

Nick also loved his friends unconditionally. He shared a legendary bond with his "Wolf Pack"-George and Peter, along with their wives, Debby and Barb. - Their time together was filled with laughter, stories, and the kind of camaraderie that only lifelong friends can share. He also held a special place in his heart for his beloved "Yooper" neighbor, Lori, and his oncology nurse, Chris, often remarking, "I know God brought you into my life".

Nick served as the lead Mechanic for Springfield Local Schools, where his skill and dedication kept over forty vehicles and buses on the road and daily fleet operations moving forward. Throughout his years of service, he supported countless students, families, and coworkers with his reliability, humor, and steady presence. By the time he retired in 2023, he had built a legacy of hard work and integrity. He was the kind of man that turned every professional encounter into a lasting friendship.

Nick taught and embodied doing what is right, even when it is not easy. He modeled a steady reliability, approaching every task with careful attention, integrity, and a willingness to roll up his sleeves and get dirty, both literally and metaphorically. He stood as a pillar of support for his family and friends, helping to carry one another through challenges with strong convictions and encouragement. When mistakes occurred, he demonstrated forgiveness with humility, reminding those around him that reconciliation and God's grace builds stronger bonds than any argument ever could.

He is survived by his wife, Anita; children, Nichole (Dean) Mohr, and Brittany Alcock; grandchildren, Rylie, and Marshall: brother, Randy (Cindy) Liggett; sister, Jerillyn (John) Colvin; and sisters in law, Teresa (Mark) Sodd and Jane Lewallen. He also leaves behind nieces and nephews whom he loved and cared for as if they were his own children-Carrie, Joe, Sarah, Jason, Clint, Dan, Rachel, and Allison. As well as aunts, uncles, cousins, and cherished friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Al Liggett; sisters, Sandy Westfall, and Barb Farias; brother in law, Kevin Lewallen; and mother in law, Mary Lewallen.

Nick Liggett a man whose life was a testament to love, faith, and service. He will be missed dearly, remembered with gratitude, and cherished in the steady and joyful way he taught us to face each day.

Nick's faith guided him in every interaction. He lived out a sound, trust in God, found comfort in prayer, and offered his strength to those who needed it most. Whether lending a hand to a neighbor, sharing a comforting word, or simply listening with presence, he showed that faith is most alive when expressed through acts of kindness.

Visitation will be on Tuesday February 24, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 pm. at Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 North Main Street, Sylvania, Ohio 43560. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday February 25, 2026, at 11:00 am at Reeb Funeral Home Nick will be laid to rest at Toledo memorial Park.

In lieu of donations, Nick's wish was simple: "PAY IT FORWARD." May we honor him by gaining or growing in faith, staying true to our families, and blessing others as he blessed us-with acts of kindness, support, and generosity that carry love forward to those who need it most.

I am so extremely sorry to hear of Nick's passing. He was one of the coolest guys I think I've ever met as his wit and his presence always had everyone smiling even in some of the worst conditions at work. His laughter and his presence always changed the mood of the employees, of the management, and even out and about like at the strawberry festival the people there just wanted to be around Nick. Such a very kind person, generous, and enjoyable. He will be missed by many and I for one am one of those. A heart of gold in the kindness just flowed from his presence.
He was a friend, he was a co-worker, and he was a tribute to the way people should treat one another.
