Janet Hunt Obituary

Janet Marie (Hamman) Hunt, 71, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2026. She was born April 6, 1954, in Victoria, Texas, to Howard Alvin Hamman and Ruthaleen Jean (Magill) Hamman.

Her greatest joy in life was her family, whom she loved deeply. She is survived by her children, Erin Marie (Hunt) Brown and Donald "Rhett" Everett Hunt III; her grandchildren, whom she lovingly called her five hearts - Jackson Jarvis, Addison Jarvis, Camber Brown, Cash Brown, and Cohen Brown; and her cherished sisters, Glenda Pons and Sharon Tomas. She now joins her beloved brother, Howard Glen Hamman, who preceded her in death.

Janet leaves behind countless others who adored her - neighbors, customers who became friends, lifelong companions, extended family members, and even chance acquaintances who quickly found themselves at ease in her presence. She had a natural way of lifting people up, making everyone feel seen and valued. A true cheerleader for so many throughout her life, she saw the best in people and encouraged them to believe in themselves. Unassuming and kind, she was quick with a sympathetic ear and generous with her time and hugs, always ready to help someone in need. Guided by her old-fashioned country values, she believed in showing up, working hard, doing what was right, and caring deeply for the people she loved. Her warmth and bright, easy smile drew people in, and she gathered friends everywhere life took her.

Janet delighted her loved ones with her storytelling - sometimes through animated tales that could fill a room with laughter, and often through her photography. Her passion for capturing moments grew alongside her love of travel. During her years working for United Airlines, she explored the United States and the world, visiting Europe, Africa, the Caribbean, Mexico, and the Middle East. Wherever she went, her camera went with her. Through images of people, places, and the quiet beauty of everyday moments, she leaves behind thousands of photographs that chronicle a life richly lived and preserve treasured memories for countless friends and family. Above all, Janet gave her love freely and loyally. Her presence brought comfort, joy, and a sense of belonging to those fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered with love.

A service celebrating her life will be held February 26 at 1:00 p.m. at Faithbridge Church, 18000 Stuebner Airline Road, Spring, Texas 77379.

An additional service will be held April 11 at 11:00 a.m. in the Student Ministry Building of First Baptist Church, 309 Cottonwood Street, Edna, Texas 77957.
