Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hansen-Gravitt Funeral Home on Jan. 15, 2026.
Minister Anthony Roy Johnson, better known as "TBone," age 59, transitioned peacefully at home in
Beloit, Wisconsin.
Anthony was born on August 4, 1966, in
Chicago, Illinois, to the late Jewel Johnson and Jimmie Johnson, both of whom preceded him in death. While growing up, Anthony attended John Foster Dulles Public School and Betsy Ross Elementary School. Upon graduation, Anthony went on to trade school, where he practiced welding as a skilled trade. Anthony gave his life to Christ at an early age and was baptized at Greater Canyon Baptist Church in
Chicago, Illinois, by Pastor Reverend Strong. He was the baby of six siblings, a role he embraced with love and humor throughout his life.
Anthony was a faithful member of New Life Ministries of Wisconsin, Inc., which he lovingly called home. For a season, he faithfully served as Armor Bearer to Bishop Deloyde Sanders, walking closely in service, humility, and obedience. His bond with Bishop R. K. Wiles went beyond brotherhood. It was a deep, spiritual connection rooted in trust, respect, and love. He was united in marriage to his wife, Adriana Johnson, and was a fun, loving husband, father, stepfather, mentor, and servant of God. He lovingly embraced Adriana's three sons as his own: Xavier Sanders, Darius Wilson, and Darron Wilson Jr. He also shared a close and loving bond with Alaundrea Sanders.
Anthony leaves to cherish his memory his children: Shanika Johnson, Sharell Johnson, Anthony Johnson Jr., Johnny Cole, Marshay, Prentiss "Tank" Evans, Katrina "Cassy" Page, and Christopher Johnson, who preceded him in death. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren Camyra Coleman (Bubbles), Shania Johnson (Mymy), and Saleeya Jordan (Leelee); and his great-granddaughters Maniyla Nelson (Lemon Drop) and Ky'Lany Nelson.
Anthony had a deep and unconditional love for his grandbabies, whom he adored and took great pride in. He also cherished his nieces and nephews and shared a strong, loving bond with his siblings, always valuing family and togetherness.
He is survived by his sisters Sylvia Johnson and Diana Johnson, and his brother Jimmie Johnson Jr. He was preceded in death by his sister Kimberly Johnson and his brother Shawn Johnson. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and loved ones who will forever cherish his memory.
Anthony was also blessed with lifelong friendships and shared a close bond with his best friends Warren Smith, Lynn Hamilton, and Andre (Dreko), whose friendship meant the world to him.
Anthony had a deep love for music and joy. He loved dancing, old-school classics, and especially house music. When God saved him, his love for music transformed into worship. He became a true worshipper who loved God with his entire soul. His favorite worship leaders included Bishop William Murphy, William McDowell, and Todd Dulany.
Anthony's heart for fellowship and encouragement led him to start Iron Sharpens Iron, a monthly Saturday gathering where he cooked a big breakfast and shared an encouraging word. Through Iron Sharpens Iron, he also played a major role in organizing and hosting Super Bowl parties that brought people together in fellowship, food, and joy. A proud Chicago native, Anthony was a huge Chicago Bears fan, and his love for the team was well known and deeply rooted.
A tireless servant, Tony was known for being present at every outside event setting it up, supporting it, and staying until everything was taken down. His passion for excellence extended to caring for the ministry itself. He took great pride in cleaning the church, and everyone knew when Tony had been there the church was spotless and filled with his signature scent. Anthony also had a special heart for youth and community service. In 2018, after returning to Beloit, he founded The Center of Hope, where he worked tirelessly to keep neighborhood children and teens engaged, safe, and inspired. He introduced youth to Rojas Boxing and both him and Adriana took special care and interest in Atiana Sessums, who was especially dear to him. Minister Anthony Roy Johnson lived his life on what he often called a "tour of duty" serving God, loving people, and showing up faithfully, even when no one was watching. Though his earthly tour has ended, his legacy of worship, service, excellence, and love will live on forever.
