Anthony P. Machulskis, "Uncle Tony", 101, of West Hartford passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 25, 2024, surrounded by the comfort of his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Anna (Ciccarelli) Machulskis. They enjoyed 46 years of marriage until her passing in 1998.
Tony was born in Pittston, PA to the late Matthew and Anna (Baranauskas) Machulskis. Tony served proudly in the U.S. Navy where he received many medals for his service during World War II. He was a resident of West Hartford for 65 years. He was employed at Emhart Glass and by Black and Decker where he worked as an IT manager for many years. He retired in 1977.
He was a dedicated member of and volunteer at the Elmwood Community Center enjoying coffee hour with friends 3 days a week. His interests included traveling with his wife, yard work, taking neighborhood walks, playing solitaire, reading and keeping up with the news of the day. He adored his many nieces and nephews and enjoyed hearing about their lives Most especially, Uncle Tony enjoyed family visits and was most happy when he saw everyone together. He made it a point to remember and acknowledge major life events and special occasions of his family. Tony exhibited strength, courage and fortitude, which allowed him to live home independently until age 100.
Besides his wife Anna, Anthony was predeceased by his brothers, Joseph, William and Michael: his sisters, Anna Chrusciel, Margaret Cronin, Mary Geipel, and Albina Wallen.
He leaves behind his sister-in-law, Antoinette Ciccarelli of Wethersfield, along with many nieces and nephews whom he adored. He had a special affinity for his niece Tina Ciarciello who is vision impaired.
Special thanks to Anthony's niece Marie DeBurro whom he regarded as his daughter and who was actively involved in all aspects of his caregiving and daily living. The family would also like to thank the staff at Brookdale Chatfield Assisted Living for their compassionate care and his long-time physician, Dr. Stuart Genser.
Calling hours will be Friday. We are sorry to hear Uncle Tony passed away. He would call my Mom (Mary, wife of Michael Machulskis) ever since Dad passed away, until Mom passed away in May of 2023. He would make her day. Wished we had lived closer to see him. He sure looks like my Dad. We are praying for his family and friends left behind. He will be missed. Love Elaine Haines (Machulskis)
