Anthony C. “Chunny” Marcella, Jr., a beloved husband, father, and cherished member of the Wakefield community, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family on October 30, 2025, at the age of 87. Born in Everett, MA, on January 11, 1938, he was the devoted son of the late Anthony C. and Adeline (Leo) Marcella.
Chunny was the treasured husband of the late Angela (Petrocelli), with whom he shared 64 beautiful and devoted years of marriage, a true testament to their enduring love. They married in 1961 in Everett, MA, and together they built a wonderful life and raised their family.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Kimberly Marcella of Wakefield, who was his constant source of pride. He was predeceased by his beloved son, Anthony C. Marcella, III, who left behind a profound political legacy. He beamed with pride over his son’s success. Chunny also leaves behind his cherished four-legged companion and "grand-dog," Enzo Anthony, who brought him endless joy.
He was the dear brother of Richard Marcella and his wife Phyllis of Revere, and was welcomed into eternal rest by his late siblings, Pasquale “Nutzie” Marcella and Theresa DiTroia. Chunny will be remembered with great affection by his many caring extended family members, nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends whose lives he touched with his warmth and humor.
Raised in Everett and a proud graduate of Everett High School, Chunny bravely served his country as a member of the United States Army, honorably serving as a Paratrooper. Upon returning home, he pursued his real estate license and later enjoyed a distinguished career as a court officer for the Middlesex Superior Court, where he served with integrity.
Services celebrating Chunny’s life will be held in the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield, MA on Monday, November 10, 2025. Visitation hours for family and friends will begin at 10:00AM followed by his funeral service at 11:30AM. Interment with military honors will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett, where he will be laid to rest beside his beloved Angela.
