Anthony Charles "Chuck" Muller, 94, of North
Myrtle Beach, SC, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on March 5th, 2025.
Chuck was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1930. He enlisted in the Marines at the age of 17 after seeing a poster depicting a sharply dressed soldier with palm trees and beaches in the background.
While stationed at Camp Lejeune, Chuck visited Carolina Beach on a weekend pass and met the love of his life, Frances "Fran" Ellen England. Wed in 1950, Chuck always bragged that he married the "former Miss England." Family was a priority for Chuck and Fran; their greatest joy was raising their seven children.
Chuck proudly served in the Korean War and returned to his growing family in Belmont, NC after his deployment. He attended Belmont Abbey College where he served as Student Body President. Chuck graduated in 1956 with a degree in Business Administration. A lifelong devotee to the Abbey, he was recognized as Alumnus of the Year in 2005 and later endowed the Anthony C. Muller Scholarship Fund. A self-proclaimed "walking yearbook" of the college, he enjoyed sharing memories with students every October during homecoming festivities.
Chuck spent the majority of his career working for the Ford Motor Company which brought his family to Louisville, KY. In 1974, the Governor commissioned Chuck as a Kentucky Colonel. The family spent their later years in Kernersville, NC where Chuck and Fran retired. They spent their golden years traveling the world and enjoying time with their children and grandchildren.
Fran and Chuck made North
Myrtle Beach, SC their home in 2015, joining the parish of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Always an active member of his community, Chuck made connections wherever he went, notably as a regular at Flynn's Irish Tavern and later at Grand Strand Cardio Rehab.
A devout Catholic, he was a dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus and enjoyed volunteering in his community. Golf was a passion that turned strangers into lifelong friends. Chuck recorded his first and only hole in one at the ripe age of 77.
Chuck is preceded in death by his wife Fran and their sons Anthony Charles "Corky" and Joseph Muller. He is survived by his children, Barlowe "Barry" (Carolyn) Muller of North
Myrtle Beach, SC, Cathey (Carmack) Kersey of Winchester, KY, Jerome (Denise) Muller of Louisville, KY, Judith "Jude" (Cliff) Barrineau of Columbia, SC, and Mary Fran (Ross) Ferry of North
