Anthony Plassio Obituary

Anthony Joseph Plassio Jr., 77, of Robinson Township, previously of Murrysville, passed away peacefully on Friday, Dec. 26, 2025. Born Jan. 17, 1948, in Herminie, Tony was the beloved son of the late Anthony and Helen (Colerick) Plassio. Tony was deeply proud of his Italian heritage and was a member of the Italian Sons and Daughters of America (ISDA). He was a tax accountant who worked for various accounting firms and in private industry. He eventually settled into self-employment, where he was still active in offering tax services. He was also dedicated to giving back to his community, currently serving as a board member of Communities Inc., a non-profit organization committed to raising funds to support youth baseball in Murrysville. He previously volunteered his time with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Pittsburgh Jaycees/Vectors, various youth special needs and adolescent amputee organizations, as well as coaching and scorekeeping for youth sports. His generosity, leadership, and passion for helping young people left a lasting impact. Tony was the beloved husband of Susan (Filipiak) Plassio, with whom he shared 45 years of marriage. He was the devoted father of Dante (Emily) Plassio; and the proud and loving "Pappy Tony" to his grandchildren, Vayda, Reese, and Van. He is survived by his sisters, Helen (Norm) Vinsick and Antoinette (the late Geno) Guerrieri; his brother, William (the late Mary) Plassio; and his sisters- and brothers-in-law, Sandra (Dallas) Jensen, Sally (Charles) Kremer, John Filipiak, James (Juliana) Filipiak, and Joseph (Donna) Filipiak. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Tony was preceded in death by his siblings, Margaret (the late Paul) Orange, James (Bonnie) Plassio, and Mary (the late James) Fullerton. Family and friends will be received from 1 until 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 2, 2026, at PITTSBURGH CREMATION & FUNERAL CARE, 5405 Steubenville Pike, Robinson Township, PA 15136. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2026, at Archangel Gabriel Parish (Holy Trinity Church), 5718 Steubenville Pike, McKees Rocks, PA 15136. Burial will follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Franklin Regional Panther Foundation, created to ensure the highest level of educational innovation supporting students, faculty, and staff with community involvement in a partnership of lifetime learning in academics, arts, and athletics.
