It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Anthony J. Ricci, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, teacher, and friend, who peacefully passed away at the age of 90 at his home, surrounded by loved ones. He was born in Providence, the son of the late Cosmo and Laura (Scotti) Ricci.

Anthony was a proud Veteran of the United States Navy, who served his country with honor and dedication. His unwavering sense of duty carried over into his civilian life, where he became a cherished educator in the Johnston community. For many years, he taught both middle and high school students, as well as driver’s education, impacting countless lives. As a teacher, Anthony was known not only for his knowledge and passion but for his genuine care for his students. His patience, humor, and kindness left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of learning from him.

In his later years, Anthony also devoted much of his time to volunteering with the Blind Veterans Association as Vice President. He was committed to helping other veterans navigate the challenges of blindness, speaking to various groups and offering his support and guidance. His compassion and wisdom provided comfort and hope to those facing similar struggles. Anthony’s selflessness and dedication to his brothers and sisters in arms exemplified the true meaning of service.

In addition to his work as a teacher and mentor, Anthony was a beloved figure in the motorcycle community. He taught motorcycle safety courses to thousands of people for over 30 years, sharing his expertise with new riders and ensuring that they rode with both skill and confidence. A true motorcycle enthusiast, Anthony spent countless hours riding his cherished Harley Davidson on long journeys, a passion that brought him great joy throughout his life. He also enjoyed skiing and spending time with his family especially his granddaughters.

Anthony leaves behind his beloved wife, Frances Ricci (DiMatteo), with whom he shared almost 60 years of marriage. He is also survived by his daughter Linda M. Ricci, his son Anthony F. Ricci, as well as his three adoring grandchildren, Gianna, Isabella, and Gabriella Ricci. His family was his greatest pride, and his love for them was evident in everything he did.

Anthony’s legacy of military service, teaching, and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He was a man of integrity, a teacher by vocation, a mentor by nature, and a friend to all. His spirit, humor, and dedication to others will never be forgotten.

His funeral service will be held at 9:00 AM on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at the Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Thomas Church, 65 Fruit Hill Ave, Providence. Burial with Military Honors will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours are Friday from 4-7 PM.
