Anthony Gene "Tony" Rice

Anthony Gene "Tony" Rice of Richland, MI Tony, age 58, died unexpectedly Wednesday morning, March 20, 2019 at Ascension Borgess Hospital, Kalamazoo, MI, with his loving family at his side. Tony, the son of James Rice and Ann (Dennany) Brown was born in Kalamazoo on February 10, 1961 and was a lifetime area resident. He was the Owner and Operator of Tony's Lawn's N More for the past 20 years. He was in the process downsizing his business so he could work as a baker, which he loved to do and was working part-time at Renzema's Bakery in Parchment, MI. Tony loved to fish, but his true passion in life was his family, especially his grandkids! Tony was united in marriage to the former Jennifer E. Wilson in Kalamazoo, MI on July 16, 1988. Surviving is his wife of 30+ years, Jennifer; two loving daughters, Chloe E. Rice of Battle Creek, MI and Chelsea A. (Chris) Liberati of Champaign, IL; a son, Michael S. Huckabee of Kalamazoo; two precious grandchildren, Sophia Sorrentino and Jackson Gene Gothberg-Rice; three sisters, Mary Rice of Aurora, CO, Corinna Rice of South Sioux City, NE and Cynthia Hegedus of Kalamazoo and his brother, Brian Rice of Kalamazoo. Tony was preceded in death by his grandparents, who raised him, Herbert and Nellie Rice; his parents and a brother, James Rice. The Memorial Service to celebrate Tony's life will be held on Saturday, March 23rd at 1:00 p.m. in the Milwood United Methodist Church, 3919 Portage Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49001 with the Pastor Billie Dalton, officiating. Tony's family will greet friends on Saturday at the Church one hour prior to the Service and after the Service during a time of fellowship and a luncheon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Tony's honor may be directed to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. The Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Richland Chapel (269-629-6022) is assisting Tony's family.
