Anthony Risney Obituary
On Saturday, March 1, 2025, Rolling Rock Beer stock fell sharply on the news of Tony Risney's passing. Tony was a fighter, he fought a long hard battle, he is at peace and pain free now.
Anthony A. (Tony) Risney was born April 7, 1952, in Rockford, to Harold and Marie Risney. Tony attended North Boone High School where he discovered a love for woodworking. He served his country in the Army, and remaining years with Elco Industries until retirement.
Tony is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Regina; loving daughter, Joanna (Eric) Adams; grandchildren, Austin, Colton, and Kristina Adams; great-grandchildren; and sister, Mary McKinney, with a special thanks to nieces Tara (Phil) Cultra and Candice (Terry) Conwell.
He loved the company of his grandchildren. A variety of nieces and nephews would complete the list of those left to embellish his memory.
Predeceased by his son, Robert (Robbie) A. Risney.
Tony was an avid fisherman and hunter, enjoying his retirement creating projects in his "man cave" and spending his time with his friends at the "SLU CRU". His years at Elco were spent in various positions, but his quick wit and little tricks and "treats" were shared by all.
His life was marked by his quick wit and generosity with his talents, being a supportive husband, father, grandfather, and uncle and enjoying hunting and fishing. He was one of a kind and one of the good ones. He will be greatly missed by all.
A special thank you to Serenity Hospice for their care and help in those final days.
There will be no viewing since his wife refuses to honor his request to have him sitting in the corner of the room with a Rolling Rock beer in his hand so that he would appear natural to visitors. A celebration of life will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 5th, 2025 at Ellida Lodge, 1201 Sandy Hallow Rd., Rockford. To share a memory or condolence, please visit oslonfh.com
