Anthony J. Roman
November 9, 1973 – October 13, 2025
Anthony J. Roman lived a full and meaningful life, even if far too short. His passing on October 13, 2025, left an immeasurable void in the hearts of his family, friends, and community.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 25 years, Adriana, and their two sons, Joseph and Matthew, the center of his world. He is also survived by his mother, Sue; mother-in-law, Marie; sister, Christina (and family); brother-in-law, Steven (and family); grandparents, Steve and Kay; and his faithful dog, Rocky. He loved his family deeply and completely.
A proud United States Marine, Anthony served honorably for six years, including more than two years stationed in Okinawa, Japan. He often joked that his time in the Marines was "like a six-year camping trip," a testament to his humor, resilience, and ability to find joy in every challenge. He was honorably discharged as a Sergeant and became a member of the American Legion.
Professionally, Anthony built an extraordinary career in healthcare security. For nearly two decades, he served as a trusted leader within San Diego's healthcare community and most recently, continued his work at a health system in Walnut Creek, CA. His passion for safety, mentorship, and innovation left a lasting mark on colleagues and institutions alike. He was an active member of ASIS, IAHSS, and Crime Stoppers, among many other organizations that benefited from his expertise and leadership.
Beyond work, Anthony's heart was always with his community, especially wherever his kids were involved. From coaching Little League and serving as President of West Hills Little League to his role as Vice President of the WHHS Baseball Boosters and even the "Popcorn Kernel" for the local Cub Scouts, Anthony poured himself into every volunteer role with energy and enthusiasm. He was always the loudest voice cheering from the stands, the first to lend a hand, and the one with the biggest smile. That joy, positivity, and selflessness is how we will forever remember him.
He truly was larger than life.
A celebration of Anthony's life will be held on Friday, November 14, 2025, beginning with a Mass at 11:00 AM at Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Santee, followed by a service at 12:30 PM at Miramar National Cemetery. A luncheon and gathering will follow at the family's home (address to be provided).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Anthony's name to the Disabled American Veterans, American Legion, American Cancer Society, or Colorectal Cancer Alliance.

I am sending my deepest condolences to Anthony's family, they are in my thoughts and prayers. Although I have only known Anthony a short time, he made an indelible mark on the lives of all he touched and he left our organization so much safer than when he arrived. A colleague and I were just talking about what a profound impact he made in such a short time at our organization, not only because of what he did, but because of who he was. He will be deeply missed!

This picture was when he arrived very early in the morning to join nursing leaders in greeting nurses coming into work for Nurse's Day! Just one example of how he always showed up!

I was shocked to learn of Anthony´s passing today. A true human being in every sense. He invited me into his home with his lovely family when visiting San Diego and we shared great memories and adventures at ASIS and IAHSS conferences and a random trip to Rochester New York.

He was larger than life and full of positive energy and an infectious smile. His love and pride in his family was so evident in each interaction we had. He was not just fun to hang around but also a brilliant mind and out of the box thinker.

Thank you for always being a shining light and an example to strive for. There are never any right words but you will live eternally in memories as one of the great human beings I have had the pleasure and honour to call my friend.

My deepest condolences to Adriana, Joseph, and Matthew and yo the rest of the Roman family. The world lost a giant.

My brother law was larger than life.

He taught me so much about the art of living, and no one lived like him.

From the early days when he was courting my sister, to the countless, and I mean countless memories of traveling, laughing, scheming, doing a ridiculous dinner theater show, partying, and just living large, he was always "that guy".

Am I going to miss him? Of course!

But MF´er, I am so lucky to have had all these memories with you.
