Tony was larger than life. That’s the phrase that keeps coming back to me because it’s the truest way to describe him. From the time he was little, Tony had a way of drawing people in. He didn’t just walk into a room, he filled it. Tony filled a room with laughter, with warmth, with that unmistakable energy that made you feel like something special had just arrived.
But Tony wasn’t larger than life because he was loud or obnoxious.well. He was larger than life because of the light he carried inside of him. Tony’s light reached people in ways words can’t quite capture. It was in his compassion, the way he noticed when someone needed kindness and offered it without hesitation. It was in his generosity, which wasn’t about things but about presence and showing up for people, standing beside them, believing in them even on the days they couldn’t believe in themselves.
Tony’s heart was vast and steady. He loved his family fiercely. He was proud beyond words of his children Derek, Jordyn, Dylan and Jared, and he was hopeful for them always, cheering them on in every chapter of their lives. His love for his wife Michelle was deep and constant. Tony and Michelle had a partnership built on devotion and joy. And for his siblings, Julie, Mike,Shelley, Stephanie, Heidi and Andrea, Tony was a protector, the one you knew you could lean on, the one who would fight for you, lift you, and never let you fall alone.
But Tony’s light didn’t stop with family. He carried it out into the world. Friends, neighbors, coworkers, his bank clients, anyone lucky enough to cross his path felt the warmth of that glow. He had a gift for making people feel seen, valued, and loved. Whether you knew him for decades or met him once, Tony had a way of leaving you better than he found you.
And that’s what makes saying goodbye to Tony so hard. Because the world feels different without that light shining in it. But here’s the thing about light: it doesn’t really disappear. It lingers. It reflects. It lives on in the people it touched.
Tony’s light is in the laughter we still hear when we share stories about him. It’s in the courage we find when we stand up for someone else, just like he would have. It’s in the love we pour into our families and our friendships, because Tony showed us how to love without reservation. And it’s in the quiet strength we carry forward, because he taught us what it means to be a rock; not just for ourselves, but for each other.
So today, even as our hearts ache, we honor Tony the best way we can: by carrying his light forward. By showing up for the people around us. By choosing kindness. By laughing loudly and loving deeply. Because that’s how Tony lived and that’s the gift he’s left behind for all of us.
Tony was larger than life, and though we miss him more than words can say, that bright, beautiful light he carried still shines in us, through us, and around us. And in that way, he will never truly be gone.
Thank you, Tony. For your love, your laughter, your strength, and your light. We will carry it with us, always.

I worked with Tony at Arbor State Bank and always enjoyed him so much...a helpful and friendly guy. A real joy to work with. I'm deeply saddened to learn of this.

So saddened to hear of Tony's passing. He was a junior when I was a freshman at St Mary's HS. My memory of him is that he always had a smile on his face and that was usually followed by his laughter. He had the most beautiful smile. I'm so sorry.
