PORT GIBSON, MS: Funeral services for Anthony Simms, 39, who died Monday, January 12, at Merit Health River Regional Medical Center in Vicksburg, Ms, will be held at 2p.m., Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Ashland M.B. Church with Rev. Ray Earl Coleman officiating. Burial will be in the Carbondale Cemetery with Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. of Port Gibson in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be Friday, from 1p.m. until 5p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home Chapel and Saturday, from 1p.m. until service time at the church.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Denise Scott Simms; two sisters, Jasmine Simms and Marquita Simms; and two uncles, John D. Scott and Keith Griffin.

Mr. Simms is survived by his father, William Simms of Memphis, TN; two sons, Ladarriuntay Simms and Aiden Simms, both of Port Gibson, MS; a special nephew, Zaevion Hall of Vicksburg, MS; eight aunts, Mildred (Steve) Hicks, Patricia Scott, and Kisha Scott, all of Port Gibson, MS, Annette Scott of Vicksburg, MS, Linda Scott of Lorman, MS, Annette (Marion) Blakely, Angela Simms and Cheryl Hudson, all of Memphis, TN; three uncles, John D. Nash of Vicksburg, MS, Michael Harris and William Griffin, Jr., both of Memphis, TN; and a host of other relatives and friends.
