Anthony Vincent Sofia

Anthony Vincent Sofia, 78, passed away on January 4, 2025, in San Diego, CA.
Born on September 23, 1946, Anthony was a native of San Diego. Known affectionately as Tony, he was the son of Vincenzo Anthony Sofia and Martha Grace Bernardino and was of Italian descent. His maternal grandparents owned a grocery store on the corner of India and Date Street and were later honored as Little Italy Legends by the Little Italy Italian Association. Anthony loved playing football in high school. After graduating, he joined the U.S Marine Corps and served for four years. He embodied the values of duty and hard work while serving his country in Vietnam.
Following his military service, Anthony dedicated 35 years to the transportation industry as a truck driver and was a proud member of Teamsters Union Local 542.
He enjoyed bike rides at the beach, sunbathing, and swimming at The Plunge. Anthony cherished time with his family, especially making a good sauce, and looked forward to his weekly burger and drink with friends at Rocky's.
Anthony is survived by Emma Sofia, their children Vincenzo Sofia (Melissa Sofia) Martha Reneau (Phillip Reneau) Nicholas Sofia (Valeria Sofia), grandchildren Danielle Sofia, Malou Sofia, Emmalyn Sofia, Enzo Sofia, Serafina Sofia, Priscilla Reneau, Phoebe Reneau, Nirvana Sofia, great grandchild Giovanna Sofia. His sister "Gigi" Josephine Doffing ( Dave Doffing) Nieces and nephew Ryan Doffing, Heather Stewart, Lauren Melonas. He preceded in death by his parents, brother Vincent Sofia Jr, son Marcus Sofia, son Mike Hayes, and survived by many beloved cousins and friends.
